difficulty getting to the gym

Well with the size of the trucks you americans drive you could prob fit a full gym in the back!

I treat going to the gym like a 2nd job.....

It took me 10 years to figure out that I wouldn't consistently go to the gym AFTER work b/c if something better came along, I'd ditch the gym "plan" to go hang out with friends etc. Now I go BEFORE work and basically treat it like a 5-6 day a week job. It is the only way I''ve managed to be consistent. This way, I plan everything else around the gym, and not plan the gym around everything else.

hmm thats a good way to look at it...after july fourth im starting to go to the gym consistently like taht also...only because the gym is closed until then...ive decided to take trainer lynns advice for someone else and use it...heres the plan:

trainerlynn:
I recommend doing a full body routine 3 days a week. Let's say Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I keep things simple. I pick one exercise for each muscle group and do 3 sets of 10 reps for it.

I warm up for 5 minutes, do 3 sets of 10 reps of one exercise per muscle group, then I do 10 minutes cardio and a cool down/stretch.

On Tues/Thurs/Sat I'll do 45 minutes medium intensity cardio. Sunday I'll rest or take a long leisurely walk.

Hopefully that'll get you started. As you progress, yu'll want to change things ups and go to a higher intensity program. But the above is a pretty solid beginning routine.

This is the exact problem that I have. However, I can't always get up early enough to go to the gym and shower, so what I do instead is use my PUSH DVDs in the morning to get me going. On days that I sleep in, I'll make it to the gym in the afternoon. I like the option of having my DVDs at home and the gym as well.
