well, you do sorta take on a role and play it.. so I don't see why it's not an RPG.. what's the official definition of an RPG anyways?

people who respect good role playing games usually care. There is no real choice of dialog in diablo

what sucks about it?
Diablo changed my life. I was in highschool and I was going to drop out, but after playing Diablo, I decided it wasn't a good idea. Also, it helped me fight my fears and it landed me a date to the prom. But then I stopped playing Diablo, and my world came crashing down. Then after firing up Diablo again, I realize my bad ways and changed for the good. Recently, I decided to open an wounded animal shelter and also a battered women club to help fight against domestic abuse. Thanks Diablo. The day before election day, I plan to pull an all nighter with Diablo because I know after playing it for 10 hours straight, I'll be able to make the right choice coming election time.

I'm still not done having fun with Starcraft...get back to me in a few years and I'll be ready to try out Diablo.
Dont understand what made that game so popular. Total annihilation was way better then it.
Never played that...I reckon I should then if you are saying it's better than Starcraft.
There's only a few games that have converted me to a temporary nerd, and SC was DEFINITELY one of them.

I guess I never understood why Diablo was so fun. I beat the first one and thought it was OK, I tried the second one and beat the first dungeon and ditched it.

starcraft was good but not like the best rts ever made which is what allot of people think.
I remember this game called "Z" (or something similar like that) that was the coolest thing I've ever played. I'm very sad that I threw it away though. It came about around the time C&C: Red Alert came out.
The best time I've ever had was with MechCommander though. It was so fun. I bought it recently again, and I should have kept it as a memory because after seeing the flat 2D images again, I lost all interest in it.

what was better than starcraft? I remember liking the original age of empires a lot, but nothing besides warcraft III came close to starcraft in my book... but I didn't play tons of those either.
yeah, if you just walk around killing it is a click fest. the fun part is trying out different char builds, for that you need someone to rush you so you can level fast. see how the build works on it's own, etc.
Diablo is an Action RGP. You take on the role of a character and follow a fast paced storyline that ends with the killing of an ultimate boss while developing said character. (Typical trait of an RPG.) Commonly referred to as a hack-n-slash game. It's basically both an RPG and hack-n-slash. (fast paced RPG that does not involve depth like final fantasy RPGs)
I hope rushing can longer be done with D3. I wish D3 will be secure enough to lock-out all the hacks and ****. I hope you can re-spec in D3. I hope D3 would get released before next month.
But seriously...I can't wait for this game...I can't even wait for StarCraft 2 to come out...

it'll blow if starcraft II and D3 end up being jokes like starcraft ghost.
I dind't think the final fantasy series was all that in depth. There weren't really choices you could make at all, except maybe for your name. Yeah depending on the version you could make your dude do magic or be a fighter, but i odn't think it's all that much more in depth than diablo.
I do thoroughly enjoy the series though
