CypKitty's journey in a journal

I thought I might as well start one of these today., considering today I have started my grain free diet and will need somewhere to vent when I am craving my pasta lol

I have been all over the forums and have written lots of stuff about me. I will try to summarise as much as I can here...

Effie, 23 years old from Sydney Australia

155cm (or 5'1'), 57kg (or 125ish pounds) (want to get back down to 54kg), 24.5%BF, can't really aim lower than 20% for that as I am trying for a baby.

Former bulimic - did this for over 2 years and I am proud to say that on the 9the of October marked 1 year of no throwing up :)

Work out 5-6 days a week. See a personal trainer Tuesdays and Thursdays (Stuart is his name)

Workouts involve running (I do small runs, doing a 5km on 8th November), boxing (I love it) and weights along with a few other stuff. Boot Camp is always fun but it has come to a point where it is too 'easy' Stuart is running one from his area starting next Monday and I have heard that there is a girl in there like me, so there will be competition!

In PT on Thursday, Stuart suggested I try the grain free diet as I suffer from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). He said it will also help me lose those 3 kg which seem to be stuck around my tummy which always gets people asking me "Are you pregnant?". So here I am on a Sunday morning trying it. Obviously I am OK right now. I reckon dinner will be the challenge.

For brekkie I has scrambled eggs, banana and organic green tea.

Please feel free to write whatever you like :)

Thank you Chillen. Like I said, the bigest challenge will be dinner, as I eat lot at night (and then I wonder why I put on 3kg lol)

At least in here I can vent hehe and laugh and cry and God knows what else

Here is info on the diet...

There is no problem eating at night as long as its within your calorie allotment for the day, and your deficit remains in place. (I say this not knowing if you are one that may be carbohydrate sensitive and gain water, etc, as some foods can do strange things to females).

I don't know what your Lifestyle is like, but are you able to space out your meals during the day? This will "assist" in staving off hunger pains, and drink plenty of water. In addition, if you can try get in big leafy grean veggies with fiber, they swell in the stomach, take a lot of space, and will fill you up.

What have you set your calorie and macro's to? Deficit range? If you have problem.....spots...during the day (or at night) with hunger. Go to the store with.....the idea, of buying very low calorie food items (such as lettuce, cabbage---etc,etc,etc) that you like, that will fill you up, and take care of this void. I have some ideas here if you want them. Being proactive with your "personal" problems with dieting and thinking of ways to combat them to remain on track, will assist in preventing binges, and repeating mistakes.

Wish you well, young lady.

Best wishes

Chillen,

Just an FYI, cabbage is NOT something someone with IBS wants to be eating. Gas-producing foods (such as beans, cabbage, and broccoli) can make it worse.....

:)

Thanks, NLL, thats cool. I dont know much about that, thank you for correcting it, young lady.

Thank you for the help Chillen and NoLoveLost :)

I work in childcare. Brekkie is after the gym, then lunch can be anywhere between 1230 and 130, dinner is around 6ish. I can't eat at any times during the day. It sucks I know, and that is why I get food cravings!

My diet is pretty good otherwise apart from the fact that at night I can go back for seconds or thirds.

That can be a reason why your IBS is a continuing problem. Along with being careful about what you eat, *when* you eat and how often is something that can make a difference.

My Hubby has it, and I have to cook accordingly to help keep it at bay :)

I have had this damn thing from when I was 15, so very frustrating

Anyhow, it is now Monday morning and I start work at 730am. I didn't go to the gym - that is like a shock! I think it's because I finish at 3pm and we have a meeting at 6, so I have 3 hours to work out so I can do something then. I also think it is because I am still thinking of grains as carbs and scaring myself out "Am I going to be hungry" lol

Yesterday was fine. Hubby and I went over to my parent's house and I ate veal, potatoes, salad and tzatziki. Back home I had a couple of Splices and dinner time was a prawn and veggie stir fry along with more potatoes.

What I am going to do now before work is make a banana smoothie. Brekkie will be two egss and that. Lunch is mince with tomatoes and cucumber. I am thinking dinner will be another smoothie but with protein powder as it will be after a workout. Work is going to be pissed off that I ain't eating dinner with them - ah well. Oh, and lots of water and fruit as well.

I have PT tomorrow morning so I am currently thinking about what my workout should involve this afternoon.

Tuesday evening here and 'Packed to the Rafters' is on. I like the show but not really watching.

Yesterday afternoon I went to the gym and did a 5km run - it sucked. Mental power is unbelievable and it looks like I need to break down some barriers. Had a meeting last night at work as well.

Had PT this morning and got the information for Boot Camp off Stuart, just an introductory letter and stuff. I have found out there are only two other people doing it so far. Anyhow as I am recovering from tonsilitis Stuart gave me the choice of either weights or boxing. I chose boxing. Good session today in my opinion.

This diet is killing me, I am always hungry but I haven't had IBS pain so I can't really complain. I finished work at 3pm today and my hubby has now come down with tonsilitis :( poor baby. I got a call from the gym today - Alex to be exact (ex PT) about the boot camp running at the gym in two weeks. I said I'm not doing it, I'm doing Stuart's. Let's just say she didn't sound too happy. I asked her who is running it and they don't know yet. Really organised *cough cough*

I contacted my training buddy today and she is busy with TAFE so no session together tomorrow. I haven't decided what to do yet. I am thinking weights but then it means I can't do it in PT on Thursday and I want to. Will figure it out :)

exPT is still after you? best thing to do sometimes is to be blunt with people and clear up parts of your life that bring you down. Don't let it drag on and on. I don't know the whole dead there but it is sound advice. Good luck.

If losing weight is your primary goal - I'd suggest looking to see how many calories in, how much sleep you're getting, your hydration level and how much you're moving around in general THEN worry about your workouts.

Goal is only to lose 3 kg. I am not big at all, I am a size 8 which is what, size 4 in America?

Yeah ex PT still at it. What a bitch lol. She is going on maternity leave soon so I won't see her around.

Today has been pretty good diet wise. Very hungry in the morning because I am not having grains. However at night this is a good thing because I am finding I am not bloated, and no IBS pains either.

Anyone got any ideas what other stuff to mix into protein shakes? Thanks :)

Does your protein powder have any flavour?

I think avocado would be good, nice and smooth with lots of good fats

Here I am again

I didn't go to the gym today - for some reason I didn't feel like it so I am going to go tomorrow and do Body Attack with my friend

Was happy with my diet today. Had beans though and had a tinge of IBS pain for a bit but it went away - thank goodness. One of the girls at work said I didn't look happy, dunno why, but ah well.

I enrolled with the FIA for the Cert III and Cert IV course. Funny that after I did that and paid the money, I decided to do a pregnancy test. I have been TTC for 10 months. It came up positive! Hubby and I couldn't believe it! It was a faint line so I went to the doctor's, did it again and same thing happened. The 2 lines come up when the pregnancy hormone is detected. Going for the blood test tomorrow morning to check how far along and hopefully to confirm that I am pregnant.

This puts me in a weird position with exercise. I love my exercise and the doctor said I can continue for now. Can't do Boot Camp, so I need to tell Stuart on Monday and organise a pregnancy plan. Tomorrow morning and Sunday morning I will do a HPT again just to make sure and get it to sink in :)

Congrats in advance of your blood test. :)
