Cybex Machines/Ab toning

Hi there,
I am a new member. I recently got serious about getting some muscle. I weigh 118 and am 5'5. I have been using Cybex machines. I need help with every body part!!! For abs, I am doing the rotation machine with 50lbs, five reps of 15. I think I need to go up on the weights as it's not that challenging. I am also doing the abs crunch with 60lbs.
I am doing the lat pull down, rear deltoids machine, chest press and shoulder press for arms and back, and the leg press for thighs and tush. Keep in mind, I just started 18 days ago, so I am not strong yet. My goal is to be toned, not big. I want long muscles, not bulky. May I get some advice please? I have been going to the gym every day and doing cardio and weights hoping for quick results. I can already tell in my obliques..so it's quite encouraging. Any tips? I am eating a lot of protein...beans and egg beaters.

I know this is the womens section, but I'll give some advice. I hope you ladies don't mind.

First off, don't worry about getting big and bulky. Unless you are doing steroids, this will not happen to a female, so please dispell of that myth. Wipe that from your mind :)

For abdominals, continue working them, but remember in order to see abs, body fat needs to be lost. That is a function of diet. How many calories are you currently eating?

As for your workouts, you have 2 vertical motions and 1 horizontal motion. Try including a row of some sort (barbell, dumbell, machine, etc).

I'm glad you are seeing results. Continue working hard, you will see more :)

I hope this helps :)

Thanks Alex

Alex,
Thanks for the information. I have a very low fat diet and I consume about 1000/day right now. I binge about once a week and have more than that. I'll keep pushing hard and limit those margaritas and chips.
If I can see results and it's just been 21 days, I am very excited to see what's going on in one three more weeks.

Unless you weigh 85 pounds, you are SEVERELY undereating. Why are you looking for "quick results?" The only results that you'll get from your plan is sickness and poor health. I would sit down on a comfy chair and take the time to read through this:

yup, 1000 cals a day is less than they give to coma patients, on average, so unless you're only 4 feet tall and built like a stick, 1,000 calories is way under what you should be eating for effective weight loss.
