Great job thus far, moon. And I see you ARE doing weight training exercises for your back and chest ...woooohooooo. Keep up the excellent work :)

Thanks, I figured you guys know what you're talking about! lol. It's not that bad either, I was sore the first day but I'm not lifting heavy there yet. I'm using small dumbells:cool:

No need to be lfiting heavy yet. Take baby steps. Learn perfect form on each exercise. Once the weight you are using, requires little effort to lift, then I would suggest increasing your weight. JMO. Keep up the good work :)

Ok, so I decided to have a protein shake yesterday after my workout. I totally made a fool of myself at first cuz I didn't know how to order it. I said I wanted a small whey LOL. She asked if I wanted it in my water and I told her that I wanted a shake so then she pointed out my choices.

Anyway, I bought some to take home that gives me 20g of protein per scoop, is this good?

20 g of protein per scoop is fine, I believe. What kind of protein is it (name brand). Also, how many servings per container does it have ??

mmm, well it was the gym brand (maybe mistake #1). It's chocolate flavor (maybe mistake #2) It says:

Serving size 1 rouded scoup (26g)
35 per container

100 calories
1.5g calories from fat
1.5g total fat
1 g saturated sugar
40mg cholesterol
2g total carb
1g sugars
19 g protein
.5 mgthiamin
.6 mg vitamin B6
.7 mg riboflavin
2.1 mcg Vitamin B12
3.5 mg pantothenic acid
100 mg calcium
80 mg phosphorous
15 mg magnesium
40 mg sodium
180 mg potassium
150 mg l-glutamine
150 mg taurine

Mistake #1 may be a financial mistake, but not a mistake on food stuff and #2 is inconsequential.

It says:

Serving size 1 rouded scoup (26g)
35 per container

100 calories
1.5g calories from fat
1.5g total fat
1 g saturated sugar
40mg cholesterol
2g total carb

150 mg l-glutamine
150 mg taurine

Sounds all fine. It's only 1g sugar (likely maltodextrin or dextrose) and 1.5g of fat, which is probably saturated fat and you need that in your diet.

However, to help it get to the muscle, you'll need to carb it up. The rule of thumb is 2:1 ratio of carbs to protein. So at 20g of protein, you'll need 40g of high GI carbs. The usual forms are dextrose and maltodextrine, though you could use powdered gatorade.

Cool, thanks guys...and the financial mistake, I paid $20-seemed fair at the time considering the shake itself was almost $5!!! But next time I'll go to GNC or something like that and look for similar ingredients if I can get it cheaper...

So cynic you don't think I'm getting enough (correct) carbs from foods? I tend to eat ww breads and or sweet potato daily, pasta at least once a week sometimes twice...just curious.

1. I'm not talking about carbs throughout the day. I mean postworkout carbs in your post workout shake. So, in a PWO shake, at 20g protein, you should put 40g of carbs. That's what I mean by 2:1.
2. I pay $47.99 for a 10lb bag of ON whey at . That's 155 servings @ ~$0.31/srv.

Thanks Cynic. I'll check the site out as soon as I finish this container...sounds like yours is better! :)
