You should've gotten a receipt. Now I would call him back and let him know that it is not your fault that he and his wife do not communicate. And that he owes you whatever you have to pay to have someone mow your lawn.

Yep im shooting at my brother out my window periodically. When he rung up to see if he could use my sander I warned him it may be dangerous.
