Climbing Back Into The Wagon

And that´s a valid decision. But thankfully we don´t have to be 100% perfect in order to be healthy. Or even just slim.

I feel like, for me, eating makes me feel happy. Kind of how a smoker smokes when they're stressed out, I feel like I turn to food. I have never truly been on a clean, healthy diet. When I was exercising in my "hay day" I ate well, and probably less, but I still enjoyed fast food pretty regularly. I know it sounds silly but it kind of makes me sad thinking of not eating it haha.

I actually neglected to add that in my last post... having a plan in place for stressful times or when life happens and you are going through a tough situation. Having a plan in place, even just a really loose plan, can help. If anything, just not beating yourself up if you go off track a bit can really help to avoid feelings of guilt or the "well I ate a crappy breakfast, so I might as well eat junk for the rest of the day" kinds of thoughts.

As for eating fast food, there's no reason to tell yourself that you can never have it. Eating "clean" (whatever that means) 100% of the time is impossible and there is just no reason to do it! Lol. Have fun, eat tacos! (Just maybe have 1 or 2, instead of 4?) Sorry, tacos came to mind because it's Tuesday and my 6YO is now obsessed with Taco Tuesday!

I think today, I'm going to hop back on the scale. It's been a couple of weeks since I weighed myself, and of course after a holiday weekend we'll see where I'm at.

Well, I hit that scale, ready to see a little progress (I wasn't expecting much) AND........ I'm up about a pound lmao. I'm not taking it too hard, I know how bodyweight fluctuates based on food intake, water content etc, etc. I am bummed that I wasn't a pound or so lower, as I've eased back into it. My strength has improved SIGNIFICANTLY since climbing back on wagon (see what I did there) now I am wanting to work more on improving my cardio. I am not one for running. I don't really like it, probably never will. I do, however, love ACTIVITIES. Sports, etc. Tennis was always a fun one for me (even though I'm not great at it). Problem is, the people I had to do that with years ago, and even in HS, are either not my friends anymore or moved out of state to pursue their careers/family's. I don't wanna get all mopey and depressing on you guys, because that's not what this is for, but here lately I've just been feeling really down (which is an issue I deal with pretty frequently) and it makes me not want to do anything but sleep..

But enough of that, my goal is to be down at least 10 pounds by June's end. It's gonna take some dedication and discipline (on my diet) but I know it's possible (because I've already done it!)

Until next time.

I am in a similar spot as you! I didn't get crazy this weekend with eating (like my usual weekends) so I decided to weigh myself today as a starting point and was up another 2 lbs since last week. Like you said a lot can be water weight but it still doesn't feel very good! It's also hard to stay motivated when the people that used to help keep you going in sports aren't there. Since I moved to FL I haven't had workout partners myself and it has been easier to hit the snooze then wake up and hit the gym.
I try to remember that every day I wake up is the opportunity to have a fresh start. A day 1. That (sometimes) helps me not feel in that slump after not doing so well.

Hey Marc! Do you mean you're a pound up from last time on the scale? Or from when you first posted on here? I'm glad that you're seeing success at the gym and it's making you feel stronger already! Keep that up for sure, it's one big step on your way to your goals.

How's the dietary side of things been going? Are you tracking your food? Adjusting portions? If you want to post more details, you could possibly get some feedback on here.

As for the activities, are there any drop-in times for something like tennis in your area? Or what about something like squash or racquetball? Often there are daily times when you can just show up and you make teams based on who is there that day, instead of needing a partner ahead of time.

If you enjoy what you call activities more than you like utilitarian workouts maybe you can check to see if your areas has any clubs or active meetups you could join?
