Caffeine is my drug of choice

I go with the adage "eat things in moderation" but it sounds as if RWS, you have a caffeine dependency which may not be such a good thing.

Ah yes, I have the very SAME caffeine addiction. I'm so healthy right? The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is have a cigarette and pop some caffeine pills. I've actually been "on" caffeine for .. 15 months now, everyday. It barely even does anything for me anymore, just makes me feel more awake and gets rid of that headache and groggy feeling. I originally started taking Xenadrine and Hydroxycut to pump up my workouts (physically). Now it's all a mental thing. Who wants to work out when they're feeling like crap? Not me. At least I know all the dangers, and even though it doesn't "do anything" for me anymore, I don't keep upping my doses or anything. I usually end up taking 800mg on a regular day. I do have a bottle of just plain caffeine pills (200mg/per) but I choose weight loss supplements WITH caffeine in them because I find I don't crash later from those.

Sometimes I'll even have a ****tail of pills + a 6 hour energy shot before a work out. Even all that does is keep me "awake". I don't recommend people to start this wonderful addiction. lol

cool, I like caffeine too...

wanna make out? ;)

Funny Story!

So today I get up and go to work, by the time I am walking to the doors of work I notice that I am really dragging ass..

it was that that point that I thought "arggh! I forgot to take my caffeine this morning!"

So, I sit at my computer and I feel like ****... and then I think to myself "alright... we gotta have some caffeine, coffee it is"

So I go grab a freshly brewed cup of coffee and stick two ice cubes in it cuz it's like a million degrees, get back to my desk and drink the coffee...

About five-ten minutes later everything just turned great. My body was tingling all over with a fantastic feeling.. and I was just smiling "mmmm "

So do I sound like an addict or what?! lol

I got addicted to caffeine hardcore after I quit drinking. When we played shows, I would drink 2-3 Sugar Free Rockstars a night to cope with not drinking. I started waking up with hangover-like effects until I drank a tall cup of joe.

Anyway, I limit it and set some rules. No caffeine before 9 am and none after 5 pm if I have to work in the mourning.

No it cant be good at all..... ASPARTAME better watch out mr

Nothings wrong with aspartame unless you have PKU. Aspartame is just two amino acids held together in a dipeptide bond it's just asparic acid and phenylalanine. When matabolized a by product of menthol is added but theres no major risk factor there. The only reason aspertame is EVILL is because some people with the PKU disease can haev some major side effects. But you can only be born with PKU. So either you have it or ya don't.

ACTUALLY... (haha, gotta put my nerd glasses on)... The reason aspartame is bad for you is this: Even though it doesn't contain calories like real sugar, your body doesn't know that it's not sugar. You taste something sweet, your brain thinks you're eating something sugary, so it triggers an insulin spike. When there is no glucose to feed your cells, all that insulin causes your blood sugar to crash. Then you become shaky and start craving carbs/sugar, and most people end up taking in more calories than if they just used regular sugar in the first place.

However, SPLENDA is made from real sugar, and I've read some articles that claim it doesn't cause the insulin spike or blood sugar crash. I don't really know if that's true, but I guess I consider it to be the lesser of 2 evils. Your best bet is always combining your artificial sweeteners with good carbs and some protein, so your blood sugar remains on an even keel.

Here's a good resource about artificial sweeteners, but keep in mind this is the internet, and you can't really verify that much is true. Take it with a grain of salt, but I'm sure it makes several good points!

And back on topic... I LOOOOVE my coffee!! Add a little bit of fat free french vanilla, and you'll barely need to add sugar. YUMM!!

I'm not into it at all. It makes me jittery and nervous. I will occasionally have some tea in the mornings, but that's it. I rely on the sunlight to wake me up and keep me awake throughout the day.

I discovered something interesting, but sad at the same time. I was curious as to why tea or caffeinated beverages don't make me jittery while coffee does. Turns out, it's not the caffeine, but the coffee itself. This makes sense because once, I ordered decaf and got all jittery and my heart was racing, I thought they messed up the order but apparently the symptoms are a sign of coffee sensitivity/allergy. Decaf will make me feel crummy too. The sad thing is, I don't think they've identified the compound that produces the reaction, so they can't remove it.

This is a bummer...

Anhydrous caffeine powder + pocket scale. All the goodness, none of the suck. Plus a year's supply @ 600 mg/day costs roughly as much as a single cup of coffee. :)

Ho Hum.... I need some caffeine pills... wally's world maybe?

My gramps was addicted to caffeine... probably 10+ cups of coffee a day, and when he didn't have it he would get bad headaches.

I loves me my caffeine... makes work so much easier... more physical energy... more mental focus... yum yum.. and its all natural too! No lab equipment involved. (unless you call a percolator lab equipment)

Hmm, the unfortunate thing is I don't/didn't drink coffee for the caffeine. I enjoy the nice bold, complex, and smoky flavor of a good cup of black coffee. If only it didn't make me feel terrible.

Gross. I hate the taste of the stuff.

Have you tried carob (powder)? It's sort of like chocolate and caffeine, but different, naturally sweet, and has sort of a burnt taste that makes me want to vomit. Some people like it, though.

Hmm, I've never heard of it, but it sounds good. I love the bitter/burnt taste. Quite often I'll munch on pure chocolate, the kind used for baking. Yeah, I'm weird...
