Bride2b's Diary

My starting weight is 177 lbs and I am 4'10".

I ultimately want to weigh in the region of 119-126 lbs.

My mini goal is to reach 167 lbs.

I want to lose weight slowly, nothing faddy, so that it stays off. I am cutting down the fat in my diet and the sugar and increasing my exercise.

My target time period for my ultimate weight loss is hard to say because I don't know how quickly it will come off at first and how much it will slow down later. So about nine months to a year I would say.

My mini target time period is 5 weeks.

:)

Everything looks good Bride! If I could make just a little suggestion....while its good your cutting back on fat and sugar, its important to keep an eye on your cal's as well. Loosing weight comes down to cal's in vs cal's out. Take things one day at a time, you'll do great!

I'm going to start with quite light exercise because it's been a while and I'm not very fit! I've got an exercise DVD "Angela Griffin's Dance Mix" which is dancing funnily enough! It gets me in a considerable sweat and I'm aiming to do that about five times a week, half an hour a time for the first week. I'm then going to gradually add more toning work and vary my cardio.

I have lots of different things I can do for cardio but I'm more unsure with toning. I have problems with my upper trapezius muscle (neck-upper back-shoulders) so I find sit-ups and press-ups quite hard. I also won't be able to use much weight for lifting. Any ideas?

sounds like you've got a good plan there bride2b! i think you have the right idea toward exercise too. you don't want to do too much at first, b/c you might get hurt and then not be able to do anything. as for toning, why don't you start with your legs if you have upper back probs? do some squats, lunges, leg lifts, etc. building muscle is great b/c it will boost your metabolism and help you lose weight faster.
btw, when are you going to be a bride? i'm gonna be one next summer and i'm so excited! i'm sure you are too, so congrats and good luck with everything!

heidi has great input!! as for your upper back-neck area...i completely understand! i have an old neck sprain injury that gives me constant dull pain to sharp, burning pain. i use an ab rocker that helps remind me not to use my upper body to do sit-ups. its all in the abs really.

not knowing background on your neck pain, i will only whisper this...neck stretches are fab to work on neck pain, especially in the traps! also, tennis ball makes an excellent trigger point/massager. i have worked in a Physical Therapy office for few years and its what i do to manage mine. mine is isolated to right side...scap, shoulder, neck.

Thanks for your input!

I was thinking of starting with working on my lower body, my thighs are my biggest problem anyway, always have been.

Do ab rockers really help then? I've considered getting one. I obviously always try not to pull on my neck but I always end up feeling sore.

My right side is mainly affected too. I have physio exercises and it is getting better but when it was at its worst I couldn't even sit and write because I couldn't look down and I couldn't use my shoulder for longer than a few minutes. I try not to aggravate it as I'm a law student and can't really afford to be unable to study!

Forgot to tell you when I'm getting married, we haven't set a date yet but we're waiting 2-3 years so that we can save up and we're moving next year and don't want wedding stress on top of that.

Thanks everyone!

Was feeling better Thursday so I managed my 30 minutes of exercise and had about 1000 calories.

Friday

30 minutes exercise
1100 calories

Saturday

Saturday was my day off diet wise.
30 minutes exercise

Also got weighed on Saturday, have lost 1lb and 0.4% body fat. Not much but sometimes takes a while to get going. And slow but steady wins the race!

I have caught a cold and so things gone bit downhill. Not been well enough to do much exercise but have walked a bit, fresh air helps to clear my nose and make my head feel less stuffy.
