Breast Implants

I have a question about breast implants.

I've heard you will have to change them out after like.. 15-20 years or something like that, is that true? If so, doesn't it suck if that time comes and you don't have the money to do it again?

But that could just be a myth I've picked up..

Interesting question. I'm actually not certain how true that is or isn't. I doubt they last forever though. It seems like I've heard that they too can start to sag eventually, but not that they just disintegrate or anything (though, they might, I don't know:confused:). That would fall under the category of fully researching it out before making a final choice, imo.

I heard that the older saline ones will start to leak in that timeframe, but the "new generation" ones are expected to last a lifetime

mmm, I have a friend who's had them for almost 15 years--Her breasts look amazing still. Truth be told they almost look better because they're not so, um, in your face. They have a natural look to them and are still very considerably round....I'm not sure about deflating but FYI for the people interested in getting them I think I've heard somewhere that your insurance will cover the surgery if something goes wrong-ie a leak-after you've had them--obvioulsy it would affect your health at that point, all you'd have to pay is the cost of the implant itself which is not very expensive.

Oh, and on an almost related story, my friend from work went to visit her sister in law who just had a baby LAST WEEK. She's already down to her normal 109 and her tummy is practically flat as can be...we wanted to beat her up LOL. Can't tell you about her breasts though, right now they're full of milk so they look nice and plump LOL...let's hope for the worst shall we? (I'm only kidding LOL)

:yelrotflmao: Don't you just hate those girls?!

It's very common that they need changing after a while. My girlfriends surgeon said that hers have something like an 80 year guarantee but chances are that they may need replacing after 20 years or so from his experience

Looking at the number of views this thread has got makes me think I should have put the word breast in the title of my log :)

New saline ones do last forever. I know silicon need to be changed out every 10-20 years. The new saline ones are really nice too :)

I haven't read any of this thread, and I can only imagine what the 12 pages are filled with.. If a woman wants implants, she should get them. If she doesn't, then she shouldn't. No one should influence/criticize either way.

What do they feel like? In the UK saline implants are rare because apparently they don't feel like really breast tissue when they're in.

I've felt a couple salines that were under the muscle, and after the initial month they softened up really nice. And since now you have the option of getting them trough the armpit (tiny scar, after ~year it's 90% gone) they will definatly fool people, even those whom they're intimate with.

Makes sense, think about it. If they're under the muscle what you're feeling IS the breast tissue that is being pushed out by the implant which is under all the layers (tissue, fat, muscle)..

So CCR, in the UK you (mainly) only have Silicon?

(And yes Deschain, we hate those kind of girls LOL, they're freaks of nature I tell ya. It took me about 3-long, hard working months to lose the 40 pounds I put on :drooling1:)

Well, lets see if I can sum it for you:

Opposers:

-Think that women are pressured by society to get implants
-Think that women who get said implants have low self esteem and confidence issues
-Think that women who get implants are shallow and should think about all the people in third world countries being hungry
-Think that they are bad because even Jesus wants you to love yourself how he made you-even if that means having boobs down to your knees

For:

-Think that women should have the right to spend their money how they want
-Think that a woman who wants a boob job can be confident already
-Think that it is ok to want to repair the damage child bearing has caused
-Think that it is ok to want to have bigger breast 'just because'
-Think that no one should judge them for deciding to get implants

I'm sure I've missed other stuff...but you get the idea :)

(and to Protein boy, I meant no disrespect by the Jesus comment, I'm just trying to lighten the mood, I apologize in advance if it offended you--I still like you even if we disagree :))

...Wait I forgot the funniest one:

Pro:

-Gave 'what if scenario': if a man's 'tool' shrunk significantly after each child and he could repair said tool with surgery, he probably would

Opposers:

-That example doesn't work because it would never happen

That's scary, I had no idea they put them under the muscle. How on earth could one contunue to do chest exercises once their muscle has been displaced? I'm trying to think of what this would look like. It seems like a deformity to me. Breasts are supposed to sit on top of the muscle, not under it.

Yeah, I think it's pretty much the same all over Europe as they look and feel more realistic. The health scares in the UK have more or less passed as the only 10 year study ever done has shown that women with silicon implants actually have a lower rate of cancer than those that don't.

The lower rate of cancer was considered to possibly be due to the fact that women who have the op tend to be higher earners and have a healthier overall life style.

I understand that there's still scepticism over silicon in the US though?

They can go either under or over, I think under has the advantage of being more realistic but is generally used for smaller implants I think

That's interesting. I was wondering because you see all of those female body builders with implants since their natural breasts are practically non existant. Putting implants under their muscle certainly wouldn't work. I'd imagine the recovery time for having them under the muscle would be really long. You wouldn't be able to do any chest exercises for weeks.

Oh, spicy, you clearly know nohting about implants. And that's ok. Most implants are put under the muscle, and you can continue working that muscle out after-obviously not right away-women body builders are a perfect example.

Putting them under the mucle gives them a more natural look and feel. Your breast tissue doesn't get removed, IT is still on top of the muscle, it just gets pushed out from from the implant...

And yes CCR about 90% of implants out here are saline, but I hear that silicon is not what it used to be 30 years ago, it's much safer now...

It still doesn't make sense to me. The muscle itself gets pushed out. That's not how human anatomy works. It's breast on muscle, not breast on muscle on breast.

I'm sure they said that going under the muscle caused more post op pain in my girlfriends consultation.

And silicon implants are very different now, they are all solid so they don't leak if they rupture.

I know a lot of women from the US get implants over here and travel back so they can have silicon implants
