Jackie,
It is very important to eat the right kind of carbohydrate (grains). According to the USDA, you need 6-7 servings of grains a day. Besides the obvious (bread), it includes such things as oatmeal, pasta, cereal, rice, popcorn, etc. I also consider potatoes a part of the carbohydrate group and you should include it under your servings. Each serving is very small, so 1 potato would be around 2 of your servings and an average sandwich includes 2-3 servings. Therefore, according to your diet plan, you have already consumed your 6 servings of bread: fruit bun (is this a bread product?) YES

has 1-2 servings, your sandwich has 2-3 servings, the oat bar has 1 serving, the potato has 2 servings, and the crust on your apple pie has around 1 serving. Peas and corn are also borderline carbohydrates. I would choose green beans over peas (but sauteed spinach would be even better). At the end, you are eating 7 servings at the very LEAST. I am like you too and love sweets, fruit, and carbohydrates, but it is important to make the right decisions while satisfying your cravings. I would eliminate the fruit bun, eat whole wheat with your sandwich (make sure the wheat bread is packed with fiber), the oat bar is good (it should have at least 3 grams of fiber), eat a sweet potato instead of the regular potato or brown rice, and try eating a baked apple with some oats instead of apple pie (you can also add some walnuts). Also, where is your dairy? You need to get calcium from somewhere (ideally not from a pill)! Are you lactose intolerant? In the morning I would eat some yogurt or cottage cheese with your fruit. If you like smoothies, they are usually made with some kind of dairy product. You should be consuming 3 servings of dairy a day. I hope this helps.

YH IT DOES THANKS, I DO EAT PASTA ABOUT 2 TIMES A WK, I CNT EAT MUCH DIARY IT MAKES ME ILL, BUT I DO EAT CHEESE ABOUT ONCE EVERY 5 DAYS OR SO.

DOES SUNFLOWER SPREAD COUNT AS DAIRY??

SORRY TO SOUND LIKE AN IDIOT!

I ONLY EAT AN APPLE PIE ABOUT ONCE A WEEK NOW, THEY ANIT VERY BIG AND THEY ARE ONLY ABOUT 210 CALORIES.

thanks, Jackie

When you eat pasta, try out the whole wheat pasta. I know it sounds terrible, but it's actually not bad tasting.

As far as dairy goes, if your are lactose intolerant, which it sounds like you are, I would look for products that are fortified with calcium (such as orange juice with added calcium). If you're still not getting 100%, you can take a pill, it's just not as effective as the real thing (milk). Does cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, frozen yogurt, and pudding make you to feel sick also? I know that I don't like to drink milk, but I really enjoy the other dairy products (I would just limit your intake of the last 2 items). Yeah, I don't really know what sunflower spread is, but I'm going to say that it's not dairy (and are you consuming enough to actually make a contribution to your calcium intake?).

There have been several studies (not very in depth studies yet, but maybe in the future?) stating that women who eat 3 servings of dairy a day tend to lose a lot more weight than those who do not eat any dairy products and are on the same low calorie diet. If you want to read more up on these studies, you can type it in google.

As far as the apple pie, you should really try this (it tastes very good and it's full of fiber): core 1 apple (but leave bottom of core in apple), add a mixture of oats, small amount of brown sugar, small amount of butter, raisins (if desired), and some cinnamon. Bake the apple in a pre-heated oven (at 375) for ~45 minutes. Serve the apple with some low/non-fat vanilla frozen yogurt. Make sure you eat the baked skin on the apple . . . it's very good for you. It's very delicious and nutritious:).

But if it's the apple pie that you must have, you should go for it. Just remember, you can eat the stuff that you really desire, just not as often and in smaller quantities (as long as you supplement with more vegetables and lean meats). Studies have shown that people that don't include small quantities of their favorite foods in their "lifetime" diet tend to fall off track and end up over-indulging.
