A detox program can help the body's natural cleaning process by:
1) Resting the organs through fasting;
2) Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;
3) Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys and skin;
4) Improving circulation of the blood; and
5) Refueling the body with healthy nutrients.
Detoxification works because it addresses the needs of individual cells, the smallest units of human life.
Oh wow, what a ***load of horse****.. oh sorry.. let me take a serious look at this.
1: Who said the organs need resting? did they evolve to rest? do we have many diseases that are caused by organ-fatigue-syndrome? let me help you, noone, no, no, no.
2: Again, which toxins, how are they driven from the body, where do the toxins come out, what does the toxins do if left in?
3: Elimination? lmao.. of what?
4: Actually, no, the body tends to restrict bloodflow due to the decreased heat generation with the little-to-no heat generated by being on a "cleansing" diet thing. This is the same reason that people on VLCD's freeze on their hands and feed, the body restricts bloodflow to conserve heat to the torso where the vital organs are, this isn't a good (nor bad) thing, it just doesn't have anything to do with improving blood circulation.
5: Which healthy nutrients? Are you saying that ALL cleansing diets (with VASTLY different nutritional content) refuels the healthy nutrients? which nutrients? again... which nutrients?
Oh wait.. there are so many things wrong with your last sentence that I don't even know where to start. Human life isn't single celled, sorry... the smallest unit of individual human life is a single human being. Unless you are going to make a COMPLETE fool of yourself and claim that due to souls or some other nonsense a single sperm cell is human life then .. wrong... also, the smallest unit of life isn't a single cell by definition, since noone can even really agree on a definition of what is "alive" (look up virus for a good example of baffling things) but say... what about the needs of the organelles? the "organs of the cell".. what about their needs? oh... do you even know what an organelle is? Now were you knowledgeable about biology you could probably counterargue with something about the definition of an organelle but... I won't hold my breath...
I am still waiting for someone to show me a single double blinded placebo controlled study showing ANY efficacy of cleansing or detox...
Just sayin'
