Blackberry or PDA?

Well its time for me to get a new phone and while I was all ready to get the LG Voyager, I ran across the BB 8830 or the Moto Q 9. Now I am all undecided as to what phone to get.

On top of that I see there is a new BB coming out, called the BB Thunder. Its a direct iPhone competitor.

Any thoughts?:action7:

BB hands down over other smart phones...besides the iphone that is :-X

No contest. Get a Crackberry.

The reason I call blackberry's "crackberry's" is because it will become part of you ... kinda like the Borg. Pretty soon you'll be sleeping with it. And then it will become "one with you" :)

Resistance is futile ...

Once you've had one, you can never use anything else.

The one thing that I like about a pda is the integration of windows and office. I like the ability to use pdf, excel, word, etc.

My friend has a blackberry curve and loves it. His brother has an iphone 3g and hates it. Though the iphone wins in the internet usage department.

yeah the 3g has a bunch of downfalls like crappy battery life and lack of 3g support where i live. but essentially thats a mute point since if i was to get any other phone that uses 3g it would be the same problem. i was very on the fence in terms of whether i should get the 3g or wait for the blackberry bold or the thunder which i believe is supposed to be their first touch screen.

it came down to the fact that my original iphone with its broken screen was subject to moisture entering and screwing up the phone...i just could wait any longer to get a replacement.

i said crackberry before because the vast majority of people i've seen with smart phones never like them in the end.

And the curve is only like $79 bucks now.

That's a damn good deal for that phone.

The bold has a lot of controversy surrounding it though. apparenly AT&T pushed RIM to make a 3G phone and now keep pushing it back to RIM each time they submit a functional phone for unstable OS issues.

The bold is nice though. The bold screen has the same resolution as the iPhone but its half the size. Talk about image and graphics quality!

Go with teh Blackberry. The iphone isn't a true smartphone. Go 8330 or wait for the Bold if you are willing to pay the cost.

Mreik...you're hurting my feelings by your lack of texting back.

Dude, a) LG is crap, b) It's called Thunder.

Hint: the right choice is either a or b, and it's not a!

Edit: Actually, tbh, I don't know much about this, I just wanted to say Thunder, awahawahawahawahah!

I have a Tilt (if you use AT&T) and I'm ready to move to the iPhone.

Not that the Tilt isn't a good PDA, I have used it and it works well. But now that I have a iMac, I'd rather have an iPhone so I can sync it. My old puters OS, was too old for it to sync with my PDA and it won't work with my Mac, so......

Well its either the BB 8830, not curve or Moto Q. I basically want one that can be a daily planner as well.

I can get either for $50.

I have the first version of the iPhone and absolutely love it! I am definitely hooked. Just bought a sleeve for it to keep it from breaking when I drop it... since that seemed to be happening too often. :)

For PIM functions, the BlackBerry bundles Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Memos, Alarm and Calculator. The address book supports groups, search and is integrated many applications on the device including GPS navigation, web browser and email. You can store up to 8 phone numbers and a BlackBerry PIN, two street addresses, email, URL, notes and assign caller ID and ringtone. It doesn’t have some of the fine touches found in the Treo 700p’s contacts database, such as turning zip code field into number-only so that you don’t have to hold the Alt key, but it’s a powerful tool nonetheless. The Calendar offers monthly, weekly and day view along with appointment list and more. It also has strong integration with the email application, for example you can receive and initial meetings in email based on your calendar items. You will find similar integration in Tasks and Memos. If you have a memo item on your list, you can bring up the menu in Memo and forward it via email application. Other useful tools include Password Keeper, calculator, Alarm and quick access to connection settings, keyboard lock and more.

Edit: Just looked, though, and the Moto Q would probably meet your needs just as well. Plans look more expensive on average, though, and it's not as pretty.

i need to look a bit more. i was checking them out in the store today and the 8830 is huge! the moto is also big but it was more comfortable to hold. 8830 has no camera WTF! I can get the curve for free but that feels too small.

however my dad has a moto q 9m and says he will trade me if i get some standard phone because he doesnt have a cpu to fully utilize it. however i am thinking of putting that on my business line and still dont know what to do for my personal.

to add, when you get a bb thru verizon, you have to add a 30$ data package. thats mandatory.

Ask them to wave. Tell them you can go to AT&T and not purchase the data package.

However, if you're going to be getting on the web with it to surf and send emails and whatnot, the $30 is better than paying per data bit you use without the data plan.
