she's going to be adopted by my gf's sister. i have 2 already and in the interest of not becoming the crazy cat man i will be giving her away to a new home.

she's actually a real PITA right now. Since she is too young to be tested for the common feline i can't let her mingle with my 2 cats and that means confinement in my bedroom. and since i don't want her all over my stuff or getting lost in my box spring i have her in a cage...its a cage made for a medium sized dog so its got ample room...she jsut hates it and has decided to cause a ruckus and tipped over her water bowl, got litter all over her wet food, and ended up sleeping in the kittie litter cause the pillow was covered in the water that she spilled out of her bowl. she also doesn't shut up...that is until i bring my big cat in, he hisses and growls and she shuts up.

i'm horrible i know.

well i just returned from the ER vet. Pip had to be put down.

I left her in good health and good spirits and came home to a cat who defecated on herself, couldn't move and could barely make a sound.

The doctor tried all he could, but could not get an IV in for fluids and dextrose. She started to exibit signs of neurologic issues and was twitching her extremities. Due to the financial cost of further unguaranteed treatment I had to decide to put her down.

I'm so bummed. I tried to give her a better life and here she is no longer with us. I guess you can't win them all and that nature will prevail. She was a sweet little thing and I enjoyed being able to take care of her for these few days. I am glad I could give her a warm place to live with food and water and that I could help end her pain and send her on in a humane fashion.


Very sad. Not the end of the week I was hoping for.:bncry::bncry:

OMG. That's so horrible. I'm sitting here at work crying at my desk :bncry::bncry::bncry:

What you did was a really good thing, Firefreak. At least she was warm, had a full belly and wasn't covered in dirt and excrement. For sure she knew you cared for her. And she wasn't alone. ;)

I can't count the number of times I've rescued animals and they've had to be put down. Even if they've only been with me for a couple of days, I still bawl my eyes out because I fall in love with them the second I see them.
 
Thanks ILM. I've had my cats for just over 3 years now and i don't think I made quite as strong a bond with them initially as I did with Pip. I guess its different when you are all the cat really knows. She actually followed me around yesterday in my apartment just because she wanted to be near me. I was cleaning her cage before class and she so desperately wanted to be near me that she climbed up my pants, then my shirt and ended up on my shoulder.

I had to go back to the vet today to sign some more paperwork and I was just heart broken all over again. The memories are as clear as day for me as I flash back to when I initially found her outside, playing with her in my place, when I found her sick last night with those sorrowful cries to having to help the doc when he euthanized her and the life slowly leaving her eyes.

i stayed with her for a few minutes after works just petting her.

i definitely miss her...
 
Like everything else, I suggest talking to your GP asap, just incase :)

You never know what it could be, so why risk it?

Other than that, it's soooo cute :p

I'm really curious...how exactly do people find these threads with no posts for almost 2 months?

And just to reiterate since obviously people don't read or just can't understand...the cat died.
 
People don't know how to read through a thread I guess.

But man, I just saw this and that really sucks bro, im sorry to hear what happened. I would lose my mind if something happened to my dog.
