Best drink while working out beside water?

This thread really proves how the "health" market has a hold on people. Drinking water is the best thing for your body. A normal workout should include drinking water, and lots of it. However, I suppose with all the commercials and other junk, people tend to believe water isn't the best and they need some "super" drink with vitamins and other crap that should be obtained from food sources.
 
True to a point. I defiantly agree about the vitimains, but depends how your working out for re carbs. If I'm going to the gym or running then water all the way, but if I'm going to the climbing wall which is a longer and harder work out, I start to flag after a few hours and find some fast acting carbs and some caffeine make a big difference to getting the most out the last 60 to 90 mins. I will still drink lots of water whilst I'm down there.

Thing that gets me with all these shakes and drinks is how much they cost, compared to how little it costs to make your own! I think the idea of vitamin water is the biggest con of the lot, the only reason I can see to buy these is if you like the taste.
