Be honest...how bad is my loose skin?

For the past two years I've been living a healthier lifestyle. I eat better, I exercise, and I've made good progress. I started off at 5'8/205 pounds, and now I'm 5'8/152 pounds. My body fat percentage is 12. The past 3 months I've really kicked up my workout. Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays I do cardio for 30 minutes. Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays I go to the gym. On the gym days I do a core training program which consists of: Weighted crunches, Twist situps, side bends, dead weight lifts, reverse crunches, russian twists, twist crunches, leg lifts (both laying down and hanging), suitcase crunches, and weighted situps.

Then on tuesday I do: Chest presses, incline press, decline press, low fly, mid fly, high fly.

Wednesday: Isolated bicep curl, Preacher curl, hammer curl, seated rows, lateral pull down, those lawn mower things for your back.

Saturday: Tricep pull down, tricep pull down from behind, tricep extensions, chaps, shoulder lifts.

Ok, I know I dont have all the names right, but that's what I do.

My diet consists of, Cereals such as cheerios, skim milk, cottage cheese, fruits, vegetables, water, chicken, tuna, turkey and things along those lines. I stay away from white flour and sugar, and I don't eat after 8PM.

But I just feel like this loose skin will always be around and theres nothing I can do about it. That's why I'm coming here, for advice. Please, while these pictures are embarrassing to post, be honest and tell me what I should alter/change in my routine. I'd like to be better by June if possible.

Sorry it took so long for a month 2 update. Not much progress this time :/

Luckily I'm wearing a size 30 jeans now :]

First off, congratulations on the weight loss.

I'm pretty sure no amount of exercise can make loose skin go away. Once it's there, it's there. Maybe building your abdominal muscles to fill in that area a little could help diminish its appearance, but nothing can reduce the amount of skin there besides a tummy tuck.

There three exercises that could possibly assist with your loose skin if the diet is correct to allow it:

1. The DeadLift: If you study the proper form of this lift and read on the effects it has on the upper and lower body-physically, and the associated biological feedback the body can provide in return, you will learn fairly quickly why I suggest to include this lift--to "assist" in your lose skin.

Though the deadlift effects many parts of the body, for the purposes here lets focus on the back. Performing the deadlift will build overall body mass--and stimulate-----back growth....which in turn as the muscle grows...could possible "Pull" the front skin backward as the back grows overtime. In addition, as body mass increases you may get some effects of the skin being pulled "upwards", and another benefit as the deadlift also indirectly effects the torso and you will be building strength here as well.

2. The Bent Over Row: Same theory here. As the back grows (lower and upper back), it could assist in pulling the skin backward.

3. The Squat: If you do a full squat, with say a moderate weight, as you push up, FEEL the torso kicking in for support.....again......you have indirect torso work which will gain strength over time.....and assist with skin tightening.

You could involve a zig-zag diet to allow muscle growth.........and try to lose some fat tissue-----at the same time......it IS possible with this sort of diet.

What I am basically saying is that if you build your back muscles UP it will tighten some of the skin......in the torso......AND as your body fat drops, and your skin....slowly declines.......this should provide some drastic improvements over time

Best regards

Well, honestly, it looks pretty severe now. As for treatment, I don't know what to think. On the one hand, it doesn't seem like exercising your abs or back is gonna make that much difference as there is too much loose skin there right now, but maybe the skin has temporarily lost its resilience and that will come back with time.

You lost 50#, which is a lot - congratulations! But, others have lost more. I would PM them and ask for their experiences.

I too would exhaust all other measures before committing to surgery.

Honestly. Start saving up for some surgery to keep rid of the loose skin. I dont think any exercise will get rid of it or minimize it much.

I didnt quite have the loose skin this gentleman has, But I can assure you, what I posted makes "complete sense" as it worked for me.

It is just common sense that as the back grows muscle (and thus grows--outward and wider--the skin will be pulled from the front as well as the sides as the skin stretches and grows itself. And, the word "assist" was put in quotes for a reason. In addition, the torso in the pic (and no disrespect to the OP, is really not all that developed, and once this improves--his skin will improve.

It is quite possible, though these lifts WILL IMPROVE the loose skin, the skin still may not return or "restrict" back far enough to tighten the skin, and the OP may need sugery if proper diet and exercise cant fix the problem. Other than sugery......diet and exercise IS the answer---period.

OP........make a journal........and follow me......I will show you how to do it....and bring in a vast improvement..........BEFORE you think about surgery

Build the muscle in the upper and lower Back.......this is the key.....and proper diet.......ROCK ON, my friend

Nay sayers........take a fricken back seat.........buddy......... :)
