And how about some hang cleans

I don't fully understand the concept behind youtube... are those videos posted as bragging rights? to be funny? as a case study in what not to do?

to my inexperienced eye - he's doing exactly what I stopped the guy in the gym from doing -using momentum, and not muscle to move the weight...

having videos like that is disturbing to me as an inexperienced person, or a person lacking common sense (adn ther are a lot of those around) might see those videos (unless they read the comments) as proper technique..

These are people bragging about what they think they're doing a good job at.

I never make fun of people I see training poorly in the gym. That just wouldn't be right.

But to stooges like this who are actually bragging abou this stuff....

I can't resist.

Although I expect to see a saturday night live skit where his arms just fall off trying to lift the weight :)

Body form = incredibly hot
Lifting form = incredibly NOT...

Andy Warhol said everyone gets 15 minutes of fame and i suppose youtube helps out with that but do these people think their technique is correct?

I didn't make fun of the guy at the gym -I really did want to help him...

Oh I know... I wasn't suggesting you were. I just wanted to clarify that I AM making fun of the people in the above clips.

I would not do that in the gym.

The weight belt while curling and lifting gloves told me everything I needed to know.

People like that at the gym make me want to buy my own equipment and throw it in the garage.

beyond the making fun of the afflicted -these videos are actually quite educational for me - while it's obvious to you what they're doing wrong... it's not so for me at least not straight away... so it's interesting to see if ican spot "what's wrong in this picture" - yeah and i know some are so obvious a blind man would get it.. but..

eh -it's just educational..

Fake boobs and bleached hair doesn't necessarily equate to hot. Her arms were disgusting, and not even in a bodybuilder weird way. She maybe needs to work on a couple of hamburger curls.

Yea, no shit.

I've been so close to doing that time and time again. Sometimes I think I'd have a better workout in my down & dirty gym created by me.

Yea, I figured that as well. People who haven't been lifting long get to see what not to do.

Argue whichever way you want, but in my opinion (valued at: $.02), lifting gloves are another step between lifting strength and applicable strength. Sure, the bar doesn't tear up the pads on your hand while you lift, and you can grip a little easier, and on your 110 pound frame it makes you look like a total judo badass... but I don't care if you can curl 500 pounds with one hand if you either don't have the grip strength to hold something up in real life, or tough enough hands to handle it.

Or maybe I've just broken and dislocated enough fingers to not care about what my hands look like.

I'm with you, homeboy.

But most in the gyms today are there to look pretty.

The true strength athlete is a rarity. At least in the gyms I've belonged too.

There's about 2 at my current gym, which has a large client-base.... and I'm one of them.

i don't see why on earth you would want to swing your body around like that...while holding weight no less.

there is a guy at our gym who always wears the belt for the bench. he comes in, does some weight with the guy who works there (who happens to only really work with this guy because i guess the rest of aren't worth the effort) and then chit chats. as far as i can see he really only does this one exercise and he always wears the belt for it. maybe he does more and i somehow miss it. but since he grunts like he's giving birth i don't know how i'd miss anything.
