Atlanta

Yes, I know. When I go to a new city or visit some place, I always try to visit certain places and do certain things:

A. book stores, used book stores, anarchist book stores, infoshops
B. record stores, specialty record stores, record or music stores that specialize in punk, hardcore, metal, and industrial
C. sex shops, weird/sleezy but classic strip joints
D. vegan and or vegetarian restaurants
E. national parks in the vicinity.
F. weird or very specialized museums, especially museums that feature local phenomena
G. famous tatoo parlors or shops that feature famous tattoo artists
H. ghost walks or haunted tours
I. bike tours
J. art museums
K. silly toursit sites like giant balls of twine or the world's larger Dixie cup

So, my point is, if any of that intersts you, I can tell you about those aspects or activities in and around various cities in the US and Europe.

That's very interesting.

And I love oddball things. I'll certainly keep you in mind next time I go on vacation or visit a city.

Steve, I live about one mile from where you are staying and I pick up the train on the same street as the Marriot. So to answer your question, yes I live downtown.

Centennial Park, the Coke Museum and the aquarium are all within a few blocks from there. Also, at the Westin (south about two blocks of where you are staying) is the Sun Dial Bar and Restaurant at the tippy tippy top of the hotel where the drinks are about $13 a piece but it's one of the best views of downtown... you can see all of the sports stadiums. Also, Hooters is across the street from the Westin.

If you are looking for a strip club, I recommend the Cheetah. They have a website and also a 5 star restaurant which is where I think I"m having my boyfriend's 26th birthday party in a few months. It's a classy place.... which might not sound classy since girls are taking their clothes off, but it's super clean, the girls are clean and not nasty. According to my boyfriend the men's room comes with 8 different bottles of nice colognes, tooth brushes and toothpaste, etc. THere's a shoe shine station with attendant all the time. If you go before 4pm on weekdays, you get in free. From 4-7, it's $4, I think. After 7pm, it's $10. However, if you have a sports ticket from that day, or eat in the restaurant, you get in free no matter what time it is as long as you present the ticket. And not that I've been there or anything, ;), but I would suggest going before 7pm, when it's less crowded. The girls are prettier and will usually approach you if you've tipped them at all during that set just to say thank you and introduce themselves. They do this moreso to try and get guy's to buy lap dances but as my boyfriend says, it makes you feel more special as a customer whether you get a lap dance or not.

The best margs I've found so far (haven't been to the place Mal recommended earlier), is this place in the Highlands called Noche. They have $3 margs all day on Tues (they open at 5:30pm), and they are darn good margs. Three of those things and I'm hosed. They also have amazing tapas.

I will PM you my cell number and you can feel free to call me with any questions or directions while you're down here. There's a lot of the city I haven't discovered but I'm pretty familiar with downtown.

Truth be told, I'm not much of a fan of strip clubs. I can count on one hand how many I've been to in my life and no matter how nice the 'joint' is.... I always feel awkward.

No matter how beautiful the woman... something about her getting paid to dance for me rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong... I know a majority of the men that attend this conference make an appearance at the various strip clubs.

But I'm not one of them, lol.

I'll wait for your PM. I have no idea what my schedule is yet.... but I've heard that I'll have down time.

Appreciate all the advice so far, everyone!
