Apple cider vinegar?

Does anyone use apple cider vinegar for help with weight loss?

How much should be used and when? I'v heard this can be very good for you and help detoxify the body.

What I have read in studies is that it doesn't help in weight loss. I would stay away from it.

I read it offers several good health benefits.

I have tried it in apple juice, and you can taste it. I don't care for the taste.

Some sites say to put 1-2 Tbls in 8 oz water and drink 3 times per day. I suppose if I could find a liquid that hides the taste, I'd try it again. Maybe cranberry light (40 cal/8 oz glass).

Yet another recipe says: Drink 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in 4 ounces of water once a day.

Here's a recipe for reducing high cholesterol: 1 quart apple juice, 1 pint purple grape juice, 1/4 to 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar. Drink 1/2 to 1 cup daily. Use low cal juice.

I typed apple cider vinegar in yahoo, and the 1st result had lots of info: , as did the 18th result:

Let us know if you find a recipe that works.

It works!

I take Apple Cider Vinegar quite often.

For the naysayers: Listen to this

" Apple cider vinegar speeds up metabolism especially when taken regularly before meals and if used in conjunction with a sensible diet and exercise program it can be a powerful aid in keeping your weight under control.

Even Hippocrates—the father of medicine acknowledged the wonderful healing properties of apple cider vinegar.

The potassium present in apple cider vinegar is vital because it helps to remove the excess water and also the toxic waste.

The excess of sodium is also drawn out and it helps to regulate blood pressure.

Calcium, which is important for the bones and for combating osteoporosis, is an important constituent of apple cider vinegar.

The beta carotene actually is supposed to help people to retain their youth longer as it counters effectively the damage made by free radicals..
"

The benefits are amazing and I highly recommend it if you can stomach it. It's rough for me to drink it, but I sacrifice. Plug your nose if all else fails.

I take 2tsp's mixed with a glass of water (8oz), before each meal. It helps flush fat from the cells and has even been said to actually remove fat cells from the body.

Did you know that there is evidence that the ancient Egyptians used Apple Cider Vinegar for health benefits? Yep!

Also, if you do decide to take it, make sure to dilute it in water as it is very acidic and can damage the enamel on your teeth over a period of time if you just drink it straight. Make sure it's ORGANIC and UNPASTURIZED!

I've found that I lose more weight when I take it. But I also take organic virgin coconut oil, and digestive enzymes.

Let me know if you try it, there are a few of us who use it on here.

Hey Honey! I couldn't find it in the grocery stores. I had to go to a Health Food store to get it. It's not that popular because it's a brownish color. People have developed a preference for the clear vinegars, so grocery stores don't really carry it.

i tried it... but I don't think it really works... however, it is good with other nutrients like MissJellyBelly mentioned and since it is an acid it'll help with digestion. but will it actually help with weightloss?? that's still open for debate.
I found apple cider vinegar in more ethnic grocery stores and in the nicer grocery stores. if you go to the pharmacy, you can get it in pill form. good luck!

How long did you try it for? It's not a quick fix, but over time has great benefits.

about 7 to 8 months (oh. I should say I used the liquid form for the 6 months or so. Then the last month or so, I switched to the tablet form). but really I don't think it really did anything for me. but everyone's different i suppose. it does have additional health benefits but I don't think it really helps in losing weight.

Wow, that's a long time.

Yes, you're right. Everyone is different. I was just posting some info in another thread bout low carb diets.

Apparently, people's bodies react differently to different foods according to your blood type. Human blood types mutated and evolved over time as humans migrated to new lands and were exposed to new foods. Type AB is the newest mutated form of blood and the rarest from what I understand.

A book I'm reading is called "Eat Right 4 Your Type." It gives reasons as to why certain blood types respond better than others to particular diets. No one diet works for all unfortunately.

It was kind of neat, because it was discussing the dominant blood type of asian I believe? I think it said that they do not respond well to lactose. I'd have to go back and read it again.

Anyhow, its a great read. Discusses what foods are good, neutral, and bad for the different blood types. Also what diseases are more dominant for certain blood types.

As soon as I get my blood type test done, I'm going to try it. Apparently the patients who tried cutting out negative foods lost weight really quickly, "too quickly" the doctor said.

I noticed they even have forums for the different blood types. Interesting eh?

yeah. well, I was willing to give it a 3-month period try cause my boyfriend's mother tried it for that long and she said it worked for her. so I tried it for 3 months and it didn't do anything for me. so i thought maybe i was doing it wrong and i'd up the dosage and try for another 3 months. nothing. then i figured i'd try the tablet. still nothing. so I gave up on it.

that is kinda neat. i never thought about how blood types and such would affect blood chemistry. who is the author of this book?
