kat07 seems to have multiple personalities using fatmonkey and dietmunkey and bigmack and kat07 sharing the same computer. No soup for you! and you! and you!

Wow, how very interesting. Kara, weren't those usernames banned??

I don't think you are interested in other points of view here. I'm sorry I opened this debate and now request to close it.

I don't think you are interested in other points of view here.

I'm very interested in points of view that are based on scientific fact. What you're describing is simply not possible.

I'll tell you what .. you want to learn something about the subject, start with these articles:

And most especially this one:

In short: you can’t beat thermodynamics anymore than anything else in the universe. You. Are. Not. Different. You can’t gain bodymass unless your energy intake exceeds your energy output because you can’t make something out of nothing (muscle or fat). And you can’t lose bodymass unless your energy intake is less than your energy ouput. These are rules that every system in the universe has to follow, including the human body. Nature’s rules, not mine to quote the all-knowing Mr. Miyagi. We may not like them, but we have to live by them anyway.

The calories not used (i.e. stored as fat or burnt up), are passed out. Different foods are processed in different ways by the body. So for example something greasy is going to slide out. Also spicy foods get processed quicker.
Um .. huh?

Calories not burnt up or stored as fat ... don't exist. A calorie is a measure of energy, not a measure of bulk.

All the calories in food are used - either burned or stored. Calories don't evaporate or get eliminated into the ether.

I suggest you do a little more studying on that. :)

Oh and here we go again:

Peter (a new user whose first post is in this thread) has the same IP address as Kat07.

You guys are getting boringly predictable.

Oh and btw, for anyone who is actually reading this thread who wants real information, check out pubmed and do searches on "thermic effect of food and weight loss" or something similar.

You'll get a lot of information that basically explains that lots of foods have a *minor* thermic effect and *may* be influential in weight loss and/or offer a *slight* reduction in body fat. But we're talking miniscule percentages for a short period of time after the food is consumed.

There are no foods that are magically predisposed to cause us to lose lots of weight if we eat more of them.

It just doesn't work that way.

I'm just shocked that "prooving his/her point" is more important than looking like a stable person.

LOL, so now your agreeing that your unstable?? never a dull moment...thanks Kat, peter, whoever you are for todays entertainment!

kara, i think this games gone on long enough..don't you?

Since this has devolved into "I know you are, neener neener" ... it's now closed. :)

If anyone wants to talk about the thermic effect of food, they're welcome to start a new thread.
