I've heard so much about it and it sounds really good. I'm thinking about giving it a go, but I've tried so many diets and none of them have worked as I always piled the weight back on as soon as I came off them, so I'm a bit dubious.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can give me some feedback about thefdiet?

I think you'll find that most of us around here don't believe in "diets" - especially fad ones.

What we find works aroudn here is healthy eating and exercise. We'll be happy to help you with that! :)

Actually that's where I'm a little confused because they say it's not like a normal diet and it's not a fad. I think you're supposed to just follow some principles. Just wondering if it's worked for anyone before I think about taking the plunge... maybe after the holiday season ;o)

I just did some research on it, and it reads like a typical diet plan - not necessarily a fad, but not something that you can sustain long term. And I don't think it really does anything teach you about healthy eating.

That's assuming that you're talking about this diet: .

The calories are waaaayyy too low to be a healthy or reasonable diet for anyone. No one should go under 1200 calories a day w/out a doctor's supervision. Most people should be eating around 10 calories per pound of body weight each day in order to lose weight. (As an example, I weigh 170, so I eat around 1600-1700 calories per day.)

Also the idea that you can fill up on fiber and lose weight is jut another trick method of caloric restriction. The problem is that for a lot of people, a very high carb diet causes bloating and fluid retention ... so that right there can offset a lot of fat loss.

I'm sure it will work while you're on it, if you stick to it. The question for me is, what happens when you lose the weight you want to lose and quit doing the diet? Is the plan sustainable?

No, I'm not talking about that diet, it's actually (link removed)

I agree the calorie allowance you quoted is far too low. Calorie counting doesn't work for me - been there done that and starved! From what I understand, with thefdiet, there's no calorie counting and you can eat as much as you like ;oD

I have been on the f diet, it works. Well recommend it.

Its not a milkshake fad diet or a calorie counting diet. Try it, let me know how it goes for you.

So basically it doesn't tell you anything about the diet, but wants you to pay $20 for it?

No thanks.

Any REPUTABLE diet plan will allow you to at least find out what it's about before you pay for it.

Actually it does, its talks on the website about including some key foods into your diet.

Remember we all need to have a strong positive mental attitude, you can do it...

So eating 5,000 calories a day would be okay with this diet? :smash:

I've now taken the plunge and have gone for it! After all, it's hardly breaking the bank and I've potentially a lot to gain if it works. Looks very good and the approach is very different to all the normal stuff like calorie counting which requires an obsessive mindset. You're right though Kara, it's not suitable for you.

Hahahha. Thanks for the laugh.

Yeah, paying money to get information that I can find for free is not for me, that's for sure. :)

Good luck with your diet plan.

Yea, Kara, don't you know that comman sence isn't for most people :) I know for me, writing down the cals that I ate is REALLY obsessive takes me ALL day

I think I might be able to attempt to answer the 5000 calorie question now having read some of the f diet ebook... :) Say if you ate 5000 calories of pizza and fries every day you would be heavier than if you ate 5000 calories of f diet key foods every day. It's more about what you eat. Interesting, huh?

Say if you ate 5000 calories of pizza and fries every day you would be heavier than if you ate 5000 calories of f diet key foods every day.
That is completely and utterly baloney.

You cannot break the laws of thermodynamics. If you eat 5000 calories you will get fat (unless you're an athlete). It doesn't matter if it's 5000 calories of potato chips or 5000 calories of carrots - you may be a more well nourished fat, but you'll still be fat.

Now I can say for sure that this diet is a crock.

Kara you are absolutely wrong. Why don't you do a little research on the internet and you will find out. I'm surprised you came out with such an uneducated statement for someone who seemingly spends so much time on the internet.

Thermodynamics is a law in Physics. We're talking about Biology here and there are many more factors to consider.

It seems like made up your mind long ago that any way other than your way is absolute rubbish and won't work.

OK then, let's take 2 people, call them A and B. They both eat a more sensible 2500 calories a day. Neither exercise, both lead sedentary lives. A gets fat, B stays slim. Is that possible? We all know people like that.

So the difference is metabolism. Although metabolism is largely genetic, it is not set in stone and can be manipulated, the most obvious way through exercise. But there are other ways too. Could it not be possible that certain foods could play a part too? Actually there is plenty of scientific evidence to support that it does.

calories are calories hun. i dont' care where they come from. Guess we aren't going to break through your determined mind. Its amazing to me how loyal you are to this diet even though you, yourself say "i just read SOME of the ebook".

Anyways, good luck to ya.
