The only thing I really have to add, I think, is to be smart about tracking. Teaspoons and tablespoons are good measures but anything larger should be weighed. A taste counts, drinks count. Do your kids enjoy active games? I can generally rack up a good deficit when my nephews are around but I'm sure it's different when you have your own kids.

I am never really that confident about my tracking to be honest. I think its a good guide that shows you have quickly things add up, though. I had a bit of a blah day today so i ate crap (icecream) while thinking to myself how I will tackle this beast.

Thank you for all the tips though, its great to analyze everything. Am starting again tomorrow with a new resolve to do it properly with less emotion when the scales don't move straight away and to give it a good solid few months to see if I can break the 2 kgs loss and regain pattern.

Icecream is so treacherous! I can easily eat 1200 kcal of icecream in one sitting, which is literally over a third of a pound of fat added on the scale if you would otherwise have maintained that day. Starting a diary is a great idea: if you´re consistent with that it´s the best way of looking back finding any problems.
