Am I exercising too much?

^becoming the teacher^ Great Job.

Thanks Leigh... If I didn't lurk so much and read all YOUR posts (because I think you're awesome!) and gleen all this fantastic info from these boards and other super smart people, I'd not be doing as well! Thanks for all YOUR help, you're the ultimate teacher :)

An expert would probably tell you to stop drinking a protien shake and eat instead! Thats what Leigh told me once LOL and I did quit taking them, and ate like he suggested. Once I did that I felt better, performed better, and was less hungry. You haven't mentioned your food dairy (at least not in this post)? What is your diet like?

Well, I like the shakes b/c they are something i can grab and run out the door with, eat on the road, etc. As for my food, that's all in my diary.

Hi Bikini Bound...
I found it amazing to find someone with almost the same stats. I am 35 and started out with a weight of 277.5. I am 5'8". I am currently 243.4 pounds. I was glad to see your post and all the great advice. It has helped me to change some of my habits. I think I need to increase my calories as well...I've been anywhere from 1200-1700/day. I think i will try to be closer to 1700/day.

Wow! That IS amazing! lol And, if you're in Chicago, we're not that far away. I'm glad I could be of help to you. Congrats on your weight loss so far. I'll bet your clothes are fitting really loosely these days. Isn't it great?:)

Dont be afraid to use the free weights. You don't need to use the barbell if you don't want (where you have to add plates), just grab different size dumbbells depending on the exercise you're doing. Rho had a thread in HT where she got a lot of helpful advice on her weights program. There are tons of exercises you can do that may get you further than the machines. I would take the hint from the really fit people, who usually tend to focus more on free weights than machines. I started out circuit training years ago, and I thought it was a good place to start with the weights though (I did it for about 3 months).
