Ok I know people are going to tell me off for this, but... I don't "do" drinking water. Never have. So what I'd like to know is, what is the next best thing? I don't drink tea or coffee so I rely on cold drinks throughout the day -if it was up to me I'd live on diet coke (and it's sugar free :D) but that's not too healthy... normally I'd decide to stick with weak squash but even the ones with "no added sugar" have natural sugar content dont they.

I've tried to get used to drinking water and manage to talk myself into drinking of glasses a day but I really dont like it... any suggestions for what the next best thing is? Aside from not wanting my diet affected, I do want to make sure I'm getting enough fluid for my health, what with all the excercise I've taken on.

Sorry, but drinking water is the best thing to do. You can always add a squirt of lemon to your water to add some flavor. Sometimes when I don't want to drink water I eat ONE saltine cracker, and that makes me thirsty and I have no problem drinking water.
 
When I'm sick of water I usually sqeeze a bit of lemon or lime into it - gives it a little flavor. If you need/want to bubble, try a mix of fruit juice and carbonated water. You really do need to drink some kind of water to cleanse your system. You might also try some of those water additives like crystal light or propel, they do add some calories but to many. Diet soda isn't going to give you the hydration that you need.
 
Ok, thanks. It's not that I need fizzy drinks... just that I need some flavour. It really isnt nice drinking water alone lol, I instantly want some other drink to get rid of the feeling in my mouth. Weird I guess.

The lemon/lime idea sounds good :) This will sound silly but the lemon juice stuff u get to squeeze on pancakes is the same thing isnt it? Only that would be a bit easier than keeping fresh lemons in the fridge to use.

And I don't know about the lemon stuff you put on pancakes. Fresh lemons are probably best.
 
I'll get some lemons and give that a go then. Thanks for the link but it doesnt look like u can get that here (England) only in the US. :)
 
crystal light is pretty good - i think it's only like 5 calories or something like that. They have those on the go packages too thats just enough for one bottle of water. I have no problem with drinking water, but sometimes I want something with flavor
 
i like my water ice cold, so i keep one in the freezer at all times, try it that way, if it is really cold it is better.........and a squeeze of lemon or lime is great too. hope ya find a good water fix ya like, it really helps to loose the weight!!!!
 
Before you deny water, you have to try distilled water. Its the purest of the pure, best of the best. If you still dont like it, then you may want to add crystal light or what not.
 
they have it at the grocery store, they may call it drinking water. its pretty good, but I like well water. and crystal light is good, i get the sugar free stuff, and i dont think it has any calories. :)
 
There's no need to be rude, I am asking people for advice for people like me who don't like drinking water on it's own.

Im a Crystal Light drinker and yeah it is like 5 calories...I drink it like crazzzy and even though it has a bit of calories I dont care...LOL...It makes me drinka ll my water...Wal Mart has there own knock off brand of Crystal Light and it is sooo good...Crystal Light here is liek 2.17 and the Wal MArt brand is like 1.47 so you save a bit...I love it, it is liek Kool aid without the sugar...especially the grape stuff...
 
I used to hate drinking water until a few days ago...now I love it. I'm sure what changed in me but in the last few days I've been drinking 10 -12 glasses and love it! :) The strange thing is the more I drink it, the more I want! :eek: I think my body is thanking me. I feel so good now too & I'm not just saying that! I have more energy and feel less hungry!

Good advice you've gotten, fruit juice and club soda is good and healthy. I've tried that. Also, a little lemon juice is nice. You could try herbal tea. I think that the glass or container you use helps as well. I used a big one so it doesn't seem that I'm always drinking. I hate cold water so I drink mine at room temp.
 
Thanks for the all the product recommendations but I live in England and I'm not sure which of them are available here... haven't heard of any of them to be honest.

I have got some lemon juice now, so I will try adding a few drops of that to each glass. I am determined to make myself drink it.

That was both rude and uncalled for. Geez, some people. You are not stupid. A lot of people just don't like water and it's a very good question. Aren't we all here to learn? If we already knew then we wouldn't need this community.

you aren't stupid. Sometimes when I drink a lot of water the taste gets to me too. If you find any good alternatives let me know :)
