Alcohol and Weight Gain...

I know I'm kinda late for this reply but not to sound like a big booze bag but If you stick to a low carb diet bacardi and diet coke has I think 1 carb and if u like beer i would go Mich-Ultra all the way. Just saying if you enjoy drinking, thats what I did and I managed to lose 40 lbs doing so.. well that along with diet and exercise..

Hey Kenneth,

If you must drink beer, have you ever tried Michelob Ultra. It has just 2 carbs per beer and is very light in calories. I think 200 or less. I drink it often and it has never caused me to gian weight.

If you are like me, and tend to gain quickly, have you ever thought about eating more meats, cheeses, fruits and veggies?

I believe in natural weight management balanced with good nutrition and nutritional supplements.

Something that has been very effective for me is I eat ONLY meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables. This diet will kick start your metabolism in just a couple of days. You can eat all you want and still lose weight with just a little light exercise.

For me, the simpler lifestyle works best. Meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables. When I need to lose weight, I avoid sugars and starches like the plague. There is a good article on weight loss and fitness made simple on this blog I write for.

If you would like to read the article, reply to me and I'll give you the info.

Our internet service has been down for a long while...

I'm back now though...

The only logical option for me is to completely give up the booze for a while... I have a hard time controlling my intake whenever I decide to drink...

I know that I'll be happier with any results I get from losing the excess weight.

It's just so easy doing the same things over and over again... even though they haven't gotten me anywhere that I'd like to be with myself.

Thanks for all the advice!!! :)

I think that anything in moderation is ok. If you have a hard time just having a few, i'd stay away from it completly for awhile anyways. Just like with food.. its really not that one piece of pie that gets us in trouble... its if we eat the whole pie... or drink the whole 12 pk.

I think you misunderstand me.

I am talking about alcohol.
Not carbs.

OF COURSE carbs are processed differently than fat.

I am talking about alcohol calories, not carb calories.

If you were serious about losing weight you would not be drinking 12 beers, in fact 12 beers would probably kill me.
But red wine and spirits are lower in carbs, so they are better choices when it comes to alcohol.

Alcohol does not make you fat.
The foods you eat WITH alcohol and the drinks with a high carb content make you fat.

Alcohol slows down your body's metabolism and prevents you from burning fat. At the same time, since your body can't successfully burn calories, all of the calories you are consuming while drinking alcohol are just going to sit there and make you fatter.

Alcohol does make you fat. They're not called "beer bellys" for no reason.
