Day 3 of Advent Calendar Game

Post a recipe that you love.

Try to post a recipe that hasn't been posted on the forums yet.

An optional, yet fun choice, is to take a recipe that someone posts and make it before December 25th. If you decide to do this take a picture of the food you make and post the yummy treat for everyone to see. Or you can simply tell us how it turns out!!!

Ok, I'm hoping that it doesn't have to be a "good for you recipe" cause this won't be anywhere near that list. :D:D

This is my great-grandmother's famous family recipe for carrot cake. It's not the healthiest thing in the world for you, but ooooh so yummy!! :D

Nana's Carrot Cake

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups veg. oil
3 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups flour
3 tsps cinnamon
2 tsps baking soda

2 cups shredded carrots
1 small can crushed pineapple, drained. (I put two in, making the cake more moist)
1 1/2 cocoanut
3/4 cup chopped nuts

Directions: PreHeat oven to 350ºF

1.) Mix first four ingredients together (eggs, sugar, veg.oil, vanilla)
2.) Sift dry ingredients. (flour, baking soda, and cinnamon)
3.) blend in carrots, pineapple, cocoanut, and nuts
4.) Bake in a 13x9 pan at 350º for 50-55 min. (check cake at 50min)

Frosting:
1/2 (8 oz) pk cream cheese
1 stick marg
1/4 cup milk
2 tsps vanilla
3 1/2 cups con. sugar

Directions: (cream cheese and margarine should be at room temp)

Mix cheese + marg. Blend well.
Add milk +mix at med. speed.
Add sugar and vanilla. mix well.
Add to COLD cake

I hope that if you make it, you like it!

oh my heck I suck at cooking---I really don't know of any recipes!!

Here's one I found on the net....

Grasshopper Pie

INGREDIENTS:
3-ounce package lime flavored gelatin
2/3 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
ice cubes
2 tablespoons green crème de menthe liqueur
2 tablespoons white crème de cacao liqueur
3-1/2 cups non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
9-inch prepared chocolate cookie crumb crust, cooled

PREPARATION:
Completely dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Combine water and ice to make 1-1/4 cups. Add to gelatin, stir until slightly thickened. Remove any un-melted ice. Fold liqueurs into whipped topping. Use wire whisk to blend whipped topping into gelatin. Whip until smooth. Chill until mixture mounds. Spoon into crust. Chill for about 2 hours. Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

For Lower Calories- Use sugar-free gelatin, 2 teaspoons peppermint extract, 2 teaspoons chocolate extract and skip the crust.

It doesn't matter what recipe... just make sure you tell us if its not low cal or low fat or diet... You can still participate in the days. :D

Here's one that I just made from Hungry-girl.

Ingredients:
1 8-oz. container Cool Whip Free
1/3 cup Better ‘n Peanut Butter, Regular Creamy
4 tbsp. Hershey’s Syrup, Sugar Free

Directions:

Line a 12-cupcake pan with cupcake holders, or spray pan with nonstick spray. Using a whisk, combine one cup of Cool Whip Free with Better 'n Peanut Butter. Fold in remaining Cool Whip. Pour the mixture into cupcake tin evenly (approx. 2.5 tablespoons each). Top each cup with a dollop of sugar-free chocolate syrup (about 1 tsp.). Freeze. Enjoy. Serves 12.

Day 4 Advent Calander

MEGA MONDAY CHANGE DAY - No shortcuts day!

-If you take an elevator up to your office, don't, walk up the stairs instead. You'll feel better about yourself.

- While sitting at the computer tighten those booty muscles for 10 seconds and release, do that several times!!

-Smile and speak to people you see today! If you already do this, go an extra step and ask them how they are. It will make both of you feel great!!

-Instead of watching TV, read a book, clean your house, do some crunches, spend time with your kids, get Christmas shopping done (don't wait til the last minute!) just anything productive.

-No procrastination! If there's ANYTHING you need to get done, DO IT TODAY. Not just dietwise, I'm talking about anything you're putting off. DO IT TODAY!!

-If you're honestly too tired to do any of this stuff today, do something you do feel like doing- spend meaningful time with your spouse, take a good stroll in the park, give yourself a good treat (not food)!

-Drink more water!! Try to stay away from sodas and sugary juices!!

-Do anything to make this an extraordinary day of change!! Then post what you got done, how it made you feel, etc.

4 Egg yolks
1 Whole egg
4 tablespoon Sugar
3 tablespoon Heavy cream
1 tablespoon Cognac
½ teaspoon Grated lemon peel
½ teaspoon Cardamom
1 ¼ cup Flour; approx

From: arve.storvik@ub.uio.no (Arve Storvik) Subject: Scandanavian Christmas Cookies Date: Sun, 18 Sep 1994 23:00:00 +0000 Beat egg yolks, egg and sugar light and fluffy. Beat vream stiff and add it to egg mixture with cognac. Add spices and flour. The dough should be somewhat moist. Cover well and refrigerate over night. Roll dough thin and cut in diamonds. Do not give up if you find it impossible, after a while you will manage it! Cut a lengthwise incision in the middle of each diamond and pull (careful) one pointed end of the cooky through the cut to give the cookies their charachteristic shape. Bake golden brown in deep fat or oil for 2-3 minutes. Cool on absorbent paper. In my home we are always two baking this: One rolling and shaping, one baking. My all time fav recipe...we make these every year, it is our tradition, I found this on the net but it is what we do...

they are cut into triangle shapes nad a slit is made in teh middle you pull one side through to form a fancy diamond shape...we deep fry ours and then when warm you sprinkle icing sugar on and eat...YUM!!!

It is an old Norweigian recipe that my granny use to make with my granny and so on and so on...

Well, today I didn't drink anything but water. And I went to the gym... and I ran up the stairs at the "Y" rather than just walking up them... um..Oh, and I got my friend to come to the Y too, she's big, and wants to lose weight, but lacks the motivation. So, I pumped her up and tricked her slyly into coming with me to play some raquetball and some basketball. I would like to think that it was a day well spent. :D

I did sort of good with this one - without even knowing what it was! I used the stairs about half the time at work today... and did it intentionally to work out. I have been running all over the place today getting things crossed off my to do list - so I feel great about that - and I have eaten healthy! yay!

Well...I emailed the x, Ive been puttin it off, I finally called Telus abt the comp nad getting a phone and so on...I emailed the woman from EI, that i have also been putitng off....

Awesome guys!

So today I did more exercise than I normally would. I also bought a Burger King Junior Whopper, and something came over me, and I decided NOT to eat it but to get something much healthier instead!!

I love that I'm funny (I really would hate being dull!)

I love my hair (It's long and purty!)

I love the compassion that I feel for other people (Glad I'm not self-centered)

Name 3 things you think need improving.
I really don't know why but people say that I'm really patient---I don't ever feel like I'm patient though.

I'm a huge eavesdropper---major. I listen to people's conversations in restaurants all the time. Sometimes its funny but it's really just me being a nosy.

My temper gets the best of me a lot.

Name 3 ways you can start to change the things you need to improve.

I don't know how to be more patient...deep breaths? Yoga? T2's valiums?

Stop being a busy body and nosing into other peoples private conversations.

My temper is like a volcano---it builds and builds and builds until I just blow my top---I guess I could not let it build up so much, actually tell people that they're schmucks. :)
