Advanced Runners Challenge

any runners or just pure athletes want to join up with me on this run intense training headed into a Marathon? the schedule is below. Time to lean up, tone up, and get fit to run a marathon in 3:50. i have a lot on the line for this one ;)

15 Off 4M 3M 5M 5M 3M 24M
16 Off 6M 4M 8M 6M 4M 10K Race (Or 12M)
17 Off 6M 3M 5M Off 3M 26M
18 Off 5M 3M 6M 6M 3M 12M
19 Off 4M 3M 5M 5M 3M 10M
20 Off 5M 4M 5M Off 2M RACE DAY!

anyhow, i know there are a few runners. Would anybody like to join up and hold each other accountable and run 6 days a week for 5 weeks. Even if you wanted to commit to half distance it would be very good for goth of us.

FF, I'll go at least halfsies, maybe wholesies later on...

really? Cool. then today you are in for 2 miles. Run those two miles in this fashion. One mile fast- then rest with walking 5 minutes, then run another mile fast. record your times. I will be doing the same for 4 different miles. It is a speed trainign drill.

Are we playing raquetball this weekend? I also have a 24 mile run to get in at some point. ahhahaa. I think it would be best to play raquetball on Saturday and I will do my run on Sunday.

I am currently on a running schedule, but my marathon isn't until June 21st, so I am still low on the milage build up.

Here are what my next 6 weeks looks like.

Jan 6 – 4, 5, 6, 5, 8
Jan 13 – 5, 5, 7, 6, 9
Jan 20 – 4, 4, 4, 5
Jan 27 – 4, 6, 8, 6, 10
Feb 3 – 4, 6, 8, 7, 10
Feb 10 – 4, 4, 5, 6

Okay. I can dig it. 'Course, my "fast miles" are not much different than your "slow miles"... probably 8:30 ish.

Yes, let's play racquetball this weekend. How 'bout Saturday afternoon? I'm gonna try to get a ride in in the AM but should be good for, say, 3pm?

mmmmm Gooch, yer jealousy is VERY attractive.... come on over and I will tag you with a raquetball too.
G8r80- Sounds good to me. I have tickets to the USF game with my kid that evening, but I'm guessing I'll make short work of you. hahaha

In case you hadn't figured it out yet,m I'm not mush of a player that is why I have to use these foolish tactics!

BUT- bring yer goggles. ;)

Be careful with speeding up your run. Hyperextension on a knee will take too long to heal.

I want to join, but I'm not going to..... You KNOW how hard that is for me to say  Tetris sounds more fun anyway

So will SHIN SPLINTS
Today, set out to run Flyinfree's (2) 1 mile intervals. But, I think I went out too hard and after the first mile (7:40 which is very fast for me) my inner shins started hurting. I pressed on as the pain wasn't that bad but re-evaluated the situation after another 1.5 miles and decided to abort. Total: 2.5 miles.

As I'm typing this, I'm balancing an ice pack on each lower leg and a beer in my left hand.

BTW, Sparrow gets to hang a "I told you so, Idiot" sticker on me...

Can I just like, play tetris for a couple hours and say I did it?

I didn't know you were an old school gamer! When I was in graduate school in the latter 80's, before the advent of time-wasting forums like this, I used to waste my time playing Elevator Action.

FF, this is what I'm heading for next year, hopefully going to run the Dublin City Marathon. Have a mini marathon for April on the cards first, hoping to get in under 1:50, went for my first run there Tuesday, 9-9.5km(exact distance I'm not 100%, felt like about 15:)) in 45 mins, this pace should bring me in 1:40...but you know thats not how its going to work out:)

How many of these things have you ran?

dang it G8r80!!!!! DANG IT!

the new poster-- I have been running events for a long time. My fastest Marathon time was in Sand Diego several years ago 4:32. I have never tried anything like a sub 4 hour marathon though--- oh goodness I am upset about HIS LEGS!!!!

Dude!!!! yer heart will destroy your body if you do not incorporate your brain.

STUPID SIGN FOR YOU!!!!

Mine is a 5 day a week schedule rather than 6. I won't be hitting the 20 miles runs until April. Weekly distance looks about the same, miles are just divided up differently. So, I will being doing similar in May and June.

San Diego, when is the marathon over there? I was there for a week one summer and it was 35+ celcius everday, running in that can't be fun!

and whats wrong with my legs:)

I bailed yesterday - too tired from the bike and swm and shins still a little tender. I'm gonna try again today and have a big bucket of ice water ready for dunking afterwards like JP suggests.

are we trying to keep this thread alive too? I did not run last night either. I would maybe recommend you give them legs one more day. Or if you do run, don't do anything first to get yourself all pumped up. If you get all pumped up the testosterone will push you past healthy on those shins man.

Just take another day off from running.
