Weight-Loss ACCOUNTABILITY THREAD - The Purple Team Thread

Weight-Loss
Hey all!

Noticed lots haven't checked in this week... hope everyone is alright!

I ate a day's worth of calories yesterday by eating 12 choc chip brownie cookies.... sigh, but PMS attacked!

Anyway, doing better today... and will be getting some exercise before I weigh in on Tuesday again... did so well the first lot of the week :(

Anyway, hoping for at least a maintenance cos of water retention as well...

Ciao for now!

(Oh, and happy birthday for Saturday, Margaret!)

Hi Guys - you can all throw tomatoes at me for not checking in. Happy Belated Birthday Margaret (where do you guys get the birthdays from?)

This week was extremely chaotic for me - I worked A LOT! Didn't get my exercise in, only got my water in 2 days - and was DEAD TIRED. I went to bed last night at 9 pm - not even thinking about posting my stats. So again, I am so sorry.

The Blue Team has taken our lead - which means we need to get back together as a team and take it back!

We lost Bigguy because he hasn't checked in for two weeks. And Rah and myself didn't check in this week. :(

We can do it - let's refocus. We don't have too much time left in the contest - so let's kick butt!

Awww, it's okay Lori... we all have those weeks! :(

When does the contest end again?

And I agree, there's some SERIOUS butt-kicking to be done!

Thanks for letting us know Sarah! Hope all is still well with you!

Okay everyone, this week is "back on track, finally, damnit" week.

Let's do it!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes Anke and Lori.

Lori - the home page lists today's birthdays on the bottom - below the list of different forum sections. Also many people mention their birthday in their diaries so you sometimes see a mention there.

Sarah - I hope that you enjoy your holiday.

Lori and Sarah - we all have times when things get busy. Dont worry about not getting things entered in time. I sometimes dont get on to the forum for a couple of days. That is why I am about to enter the exercise that I have done thus far - just in case I have difficulty getting back on.

Come now folks, we're letting this thread die!

I have stopped logging my calories on fitday, but will be ticking off portions for the day, every day.

I am REALLY recommitted now... no need for this to be any longer and more drawn out than it needs to be!

I am still here Anke.
I always get plenty of fibre so there is no problem with this challenge for me.
Exercise continues as per normal (even though I am still away from home) so my pedometer is up to 8.98 miles so far today.

What have you done before that worked to recommit yourself when you've been in a rut? Have you BEEN in a rut?

After over twenty years of failed diets - I have a ton of experience of getting into a rut and not dealing with it well. Unfortunately it tended to mean the end of the project.

I have managed a lot better this time round - but - as long as I do my exercise I cannot have a bad day. Simply by getting my long morning walk in - it is a good day - whatever I eat. This tends to work really well for me. I tend to often have a reasonably good food day - which turns the day to great. I really cannot feel bad about the day as long as I do the exercise. I find it much easier to force myself to do the walk than to eat properly on vulnerable days.

I had my last really big binge back in September - and arranged for lots of distraction phone calls the next day to make sure that it didnt continue - by telling certain close family members about it. Lots of phone calls asking how my eating was going seemed to break the pattern. Since then - my problems have been more like unwise lack of restriction of things like cereal which thankfully (although not assisting weight loss) doesnt do too much damage compared to some problem events.

I've come up with a plan of action!

I really think it's important I don't count calories anymore... I'm going by portions of food groups and picking healthy options.... I'm drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. My exercise goal is to exercise for at least 20 minutes, 3 times a week (excluding my 2x 1hour belly dance classes)

My other goal is to have one treat a week (whenever it suits me, like when the oppurtunity arises) specifically. I will ENJOY this treat fully. Over weekends, however, I want my eating habits to be as good as they are in the week. That just means carrying on as normal. If I go over my allowance of food, I WILL NOT ruin the rest of my day. I will carry on with my regular meals. I NEED to do this in order to get a feeling of habit about my eating.

Phew, sorry, this is me rambling!

Hope you're all doing well!

Okay, I've joined a 1000 mile contest...

I am so motivated to start running again now... I'm going tomorrow morning, on a Saturday, wow! I must do this for myself... I will reap the benefits :)

Hi guys! I finally have the break to sit down and say hello to all of you! Man, I really really love my job - but it can get hectic at times.

I haven't been keeping track on the forum, but I have been keeping a little journal all week so that I can post my results. I hit the Fiber Challenge every day. Today is the last day for that - I'm going into work this morning and then going to lunch with a friend that I haven't seen in some time. So, that will be nice. Exercise - I've only gotten in 120 min so far this week. I've been trying to squeeze in 15 min walks at work to make up some of the time I'm short - but it just didn't happen this week.

Most days, I didn't take a lunch and just ate while working.

So, as soon as I'm done with my coffee, I'm gonna jump on the scale and update my stats.

Hope everyone checks in today! We need to get our spot back!

Have a great weekend!

Lori - Sorry to hear that work has become so hectic for you. I have been there and done that - and in my experience it doesnt exactly help weight loss. I hope that you manage to give some priority to the things that are important to you. Too many organisations think that their own priorities are all that should count - and that is just plain wrong.

Anke - I am pleased to hear that you are remotivated regarding your project. Running sounds like a good idea.

I have had a bit of a topsy turvy week with my weight. I was away for a whole week (Friday to Friday) so did not quite follow my normal pattern for eating or exercise. Under the circumstances I did pretty well. I managed to retain control across my birthday - but lost control regarding my food on my friend Sally's birthday on Wednesday. We spent the whole day in their company (they live in the countryside so when we visit we do so for an entire day) which means that you eat what you are offered. I ate cake, sandwiches, crisps and snacks. I also did not drink my normal quantity of water. At least I managed to get a good amount of walking in (13.5 miles). I enjoyed the day and know that it will not have a long term impact on my weight - but the scale did go up the next day.

We are third of three teams - and really need to step things up if we want to win this challenge. We all need to update our scoresheet regularly because we dont want to miss out on any points that we have earned - simply because we did not follow the rules to claim our points.

Our track record through the early weeks demonstrates that we are really good at doing the work that is required. Lets get those points claimed and get back into the lead.

Fill in the scoresheet early - it is really easy and perfectly within the rules to update it as the week progresses.

Hey, I agree, let's rock this week, the exercise bonus is easy guys... We MUST get it!!!! I already di an hour on Saturday, woohoo!!!

I agree Margaret - and I apologize to all of you guys for any slackin that has been going on at my end lately.

When we were in first place, we also talked to each other EVERY DAY - a lot more. We've kinda drifted away from that. We were indeed "holding each other accountable".

We're down to 4 people left after being the only team that could hang on to everyone. So, I think the 4 of us need to refocus and start talking more.

Let's make it a committment - to log on for at least 5 min each day just to say HI - and what kind of day we had with our weight loss journey. I think it will help.

Just throwing it out there. I know its what I need to do. And I plan on nailing this challenge this week. LET'S ALL GET DOUBLE POINTS!!

WE CAN TAKE OUR SPOT BACK! WE'RE BETTER THAN LAST PLACE!! :)

4 people, hmm... wouldn't mind chatting more now :) I get freaked out by busy threads with too many participants :(

I'll go for that, I think I check in everyday besides sat/sun anyway!

Next week Tuesday is my boyfriend's and my 2 year anniversary... We've both taken a 5 day weekend (Fri-Tues), we're just gonna spend time together doing whatever, bliss!

I want to be sure my week is REALLY good so I can pretty much relax friday to Tuesday... I'll be squeezing in exercise throughout the weekend though, as well as following my normal eating plan. There may just be a pudding at the fancy restaurant and about 7 drinks too many :) So that's what I'm exercising for this week!!

Everything is pretty much business as usual this end.

I did 3 hours exercise on both Saturday and Sunday (11 miles on the treadmill each day). I have walked over 7 miles so far today - and will be walking again in a few minutes - so thoroughly expect to get my normal 3 hours done today.

My food had been controlled and healthy too.

My weight is always less predictable. At this stage in the game it is very slow for me. I hit a new low yesterday - but had a slight gain today (still below my previous low weight though). I do not expect to hang on to it until the weekend though as I expect to start retaining water any day.

My food has been pretty good so far today. I have done my normal three hours again today too.

I hope that everyone else is coping ok.

I must admit that I am a little concerned as to how things are going for Leila. If you lurk and see this - come back no matter what problems you are having - we have all been there. I notice that Leila has not made a posting since one in this thread - although she did update her scoresheet 1.5 weeks ago - saying that things were going badly. I am concerned that I may not have been supportive enough - PM me if you like - if I can help in any way I will.
