A Plethora of Questions

The calories from fat really doesn't have a whole lot to do with weight loss. People see only 10 calories is fat and forget to notice the other 150 calories for one serving.

Totally agree about the forgetting to notice the calories per serving! I think that is just the ignorance in knowing how to interpret the label. You should look at the whole thing rather than just one part of it. However the percentage of fat per serving has a lot to do with my weight loss. if I do happen to pick up something and check it out, I always look at the calories from fat. If the percentage is too high then I put it right back immediately! However if the fat calories are in my preferred range then I look over the other parts of the label especially the ingedients and then decide if I want it.

Olive oil is 100% fat. Does that mean you wouldn't use it?

Lots of healthy foods have high fat %'s, but that doesn't mean they should be blacklisted.

That is completely inane.

So you wouldn't eat one food that has a high fat percentage, even if most of the other foods your eating might be low to zero calories from fat?

If all I had one day was lettuce, green beans, carrots, non fat yogurt, skinless chicken breast, etc... I shouldn't have a piece of cheese becasue 75% of its calories come from fat?

Well I hardly EVER use oil at all, but I do sometimes....well I take that back, I use oil all the time, however I use Pam organic olive oil spray. I normally stay away from using oil or butter. Every now and again I will use some olive oil in a dish or when I eat out, I know they are using plenty of oil for my next couple of months needs.

I don't blacklist anything though! I just choose not to eat anything that has a high percentage of calories from fat on a normal basis.

Well first let me say that I never mentioned anything about your eating habits or whether or not you or anyone else for that matter should eat anything. I just mentioned what my eating habits were.

Second, this is how I normally eat. I eat cheese every now and then. Hell I just had bread and butter at Saltgrass. However this is few and far in between. I do not normally buy cheese for my house and when I do it is mostly fat free. I might on a whim buy a nice full fat goat cheese but it is very rare.

I do not choose anything on a normal basis that has a higher percentage of fat calories than I prefer, and I know that is what keeps me lean!

What keeps people lean is limiting their total calories, or more precisely, the difference between calories eaten and calories burned, regardless of the source. That's been proven over and over again.

By eating a very low fat diet, you may be missing out on some essential fatty acids, and that is not good for your health in the long term.
