Shamelessly stolen from another forum I post on..., a thread for us to be nosey & get to know each other better!....

Below are 5 questions. Whoever comes along first and wants to participate will answer my 5 questions, then they will ask 5 new questions of their own. The next person will answer the new questions, then ask their own 5 questions, and so on, and so on, and so on, ...

You can ask ANYTHING you want. The questions can be silly, they can be serious Just remember you CAN'T pick who replies. Also, if you reply and answer ONE question, you have to do them all, you can't just go back and pick questions you like better.

The sound of my heart beating too fast lying awake in bed at night, and the thought that if I didn't change my life I would never see my kids married or my grandchildren.

4. have you ever gotten punched in the face?
No, but a woman I lived with when I was MUCH younger slapped me in the face once. I can't even remember what the fight was about, and we're still close friends today.

5. are you happy for the most part with where you are in life?
Yes, absolutely!

2. If you're below 30, do you think the older generation just doesn't get it? If you're above 30, do you think the younger generation just doesn't get it? Why?

the younger generation is apathetic to the nth degree and expect way to much to be done for them - spoiled by mommy and daddy way to freakin' much - it's called work and you earn things... not given anything.

Dylan - bob - becuase i love his music and if you read his book -he was calle dthe voice of a generation but absolutely hated that title - he just wanted to provide for his family.

LOL, Well, I would definitely be on that boat! Guess I would get to meet Sirant in person, that is, if your missile missed the boat! :)
 
After thinking about this some more, I'm less amused.

I know what you said was a joke, but how would you feel if the tables were turned? Or how would you feel if someone said, "Let's round up all the fat people and put them on a slow boat to China and fire a missile at it." ?

I don't want to get in a political discussion here -- obviously, this is not the forum to do that. In fact, one of the things I enjoy about WLF is the fact that we are bound together in a common desire to improve the quality of our lives, regardless of political affiliation.

My intention was not to elicit a political response to my question. Perhaps I should have made that more clear, or not even asked it. But the next time you propose the extermination of a substantial portion of the US population, even in jest, I suggest you think about it first.
 
Great questions TomO so I thought I'd answer them too..

1. If you had the power to change one thing about the United States, what would it be (fine to answer this if you're not from the US)?
(I hope I don't cause any offense here to my American friends ;))

I think I would give it an uncorrupted media with complete* freedom of speech; I think any country could benefit from this in it's purest form, otherwise an entire nation gets a warped sense of reality according to what the government want. I think our own media in the UK is pretty corrupt, but it's much freer than the American media I think.

*obviously with regards to printing the truth as apposed to complete lies & slander

2. If you're below 30, do you think the older generation just doesn't get it? If you're above 30, do you think the younger generation just doesn't get it? Why?
I'm 23 and I think the younger generation don't get it lol!

3. If you won the lottery, how would you avoid the unhappiness and misfortune that has plagued so many lottery winners?
I would just carry on as I am now, share with my loved ones, and support causes I feel strongly about. I don't even play the lottery - although I'm far from rich, lack of money isn't stopping me from being happy, so therefore a large amount of money won't make me any happier.

4. Who is your favorite philosopher and why -- in less than 25 words.
I don't know, I am listening and reading a lot of Buddhist philosophy at the moment, and I find I share a lot of views with Nagapriya, I also love the way he speaks & writes, so easy to understand.

5. If you were going to live alone on a desert island for 3 months, and could take only one book, which one would it be?
I think one of John Steinbeck's books, Grapes of Wrath perhaps?

I don't know, probably getting my nipple pierced when I was in my early teens, not really that crazy but I can't think of anything for now.

that everyone can change and that everyone deserves respect and dignity and that you also gotta take some time to laugh and be silly too, :p

Used to be 12:00 - 12:30 am, now 11:00 - 11:30pm because I wake up earlier to now to exercise in the morning before work.

I cant remember, but I would have to honestly say over 100.

Ms Silver. Grade 6 music and home room teacher. She was the most beautiful woman in the world and I had such a crush on her. i think I still do. ;)

Travelling. The world is a facinating place and seeing other people and cultures can be amazing and scary at the same time. It has helped me grow as a person.

About 12 years old, I was on the swings twisting up the chains then spinning down again. Except one time I lost my grip and fell off. I slipped off to the ground, but my pants didnt..... 200 pound 12 year old tangled up with his pants around his ankles and 20 other kids watching.... not fun.

Ok - would it have been better if I just said they just were asked to make good on the claims of barbra streisand and tim robbins and jsut left the country :)

It's usually suggested that me and my fellow conservatives get rounded up and shot for the betterment of the country - i consider it a good week when I only get one death threat :)

Arguing politics is fun - at least it should be... and I respect anyone else's ideas and ideals as long as they can back up their beliefs and not just tow the party line... I mean no offense to anyone... Sorry if any was taken...

I can't have children so no lessons but if I could it would be the value of hard work and working for what you want - not expecting things to be handed to you.

Yes :) I've done most things in the rain, I'm a brit it rains a lot lol

I've done a lot of dares, nothing too crazy though can't think of any now.

Never done it, but I worked as a telephone operator so I've been on the recieving end of a fair few.

I enjoy arguing politics as well. I went from one side of the spectrum to the other since I came to college. I was an uber fundamentalist christian conservative before and now I am an open minded (but still leaning towards Christianity) liberal. I think politics are fascinating and how the country is literally divided, so both sides must have some good points, or else half the country wouldnt support that view.
