100 plus to lose club

I see I'm not the only one. With a recent health scare I realize at 280, I'm to comfortable in my own body and I want to be back at my dancing weight. However I'd be much to thin and sickly looking so I'm going to attempt to lose 135 pounts. My ideal weight is I am told 130 and would be healthy between 125 and 145 so 145 is my goal right now.

I'm worried about the loose skin issue, about looking stupid attempting to run, and everything else but I know it can be done.. just need to find a buddy to help keep me motivated.

Hey there all... well i can tell you that i definately have more than 100 to lose, It feels less overwhelming when you see others with the same goal. :)
Michelle

i actually haven't been in this thread for a while, but i'm glad to see that we're not alone here. well...glad and not glad, if that makes sense??? i mean, we all wanna lose the weight, but it's good to know that we're not alone in doing so, yes?
i was saying in another thread, for me, i get more motivation from reading about others than i do working out with others. that's just a personal preference of mine.
a little background on me..i've always been overweight and after two children i found myself at 296. well, i didn't gain much with the girls, i was large before that, so now i'm at 266 and seem to keep circling around the same number. i'll get to about 260 and then something in my brain will tell me i can celebrate a bit and i end up going overboard. i'll be so happy to reach the numbers "259" that i can't wait! once i can get through the 260s i know i'll feel like i can't be stopped..if that makes sense.
i actually completed a couch-to-5k program and that was really kewl. i don't think i actually love love love running, but it does make me feel accomplished, i suppose.
so, i'm wondering what are y'alls favorite exercises? indoor or outdoor? videos or cardio machines? i think that's probably my biggest problem: finding something that i really really love to do. i love to dance, but some of the videos i find just aren't for me. i often think about making my own mixes and just goin' crazy on 'em! hahahha!
anyway - i assure you that i have good intentions and i hope to help everyone along just as i hope y'all will help me. so...welcome!

Yeah I know what you mean about getting happy once you get to a number and thinking you can "reward" yourself. I havent stopped losing, but I have definitely started "rewarding" myself more. I need to get out of this habit.

So far the only exercise that I have found that I like is walking. I actually bought the Carmen Electra stripdance workout video lol, but I havent had a chance to try it out yet, but I know what you mean about having a hard time finding dance videos you like. This summer I am going to start swimming as my form of cardio. Before, I would never even think of getting in a bathing suit, but now that I know that I am doing something about my weight, it doesnt scare me as much. It's almost like I don't care anymore if other people see me and judge me for being fat because I know that I wont be fat forever, and I dont know those people so it doesnt matter anyways. But yeah, those are the exercises that I have found that I enjoy, swimming and walking. I am actually going to take a hip hop class this summer which should be a lot of fun and a workout.

it's funny you mentioned carmen electra, b/c a friend of mine actually gave me one of those dvds which i haven't watched yet. i kind of chuckled when she gave it to me and i'll chuckle even more if i like it. (i'll keep you posted).
also, i was just saying to a coworker today that i'd love to be able to swim. that's something i would do on my lunch break if i could..seriously. so i'm actually goin' to check out the fitness center close to my job and see how the crowds are around lunch time. i'd love to swim even just once or twice a week. i'd love it! we'll see, though.
i just have a really hard time finding something i like and then i get bored pretty quickly, so it've very hard. i find myself in these "funk" stages (as i call them) sometimes and it's hard to get out, but once i do - i'm good. it's crazy. i want it so bad that sometimes i sabotage myself..i dunno

watch the online preview before you watch it. I mean I love Carmen and the fact I was once a dancer makes it all the more fun for me, but I had a friend who once she got to the second or 3rd dvd refused to use it any more. Carmen actually explains what each dvd covers this way you aren't completely shocked.. :)

i need to lose at least 150, setting my first goal at 165, and according to the BMI scale, i need to drop about 240. at 6'3", and with the size of my frame and structure and my muscle mass, i could never even fathom what i would look like at 275, yet alone going as low as 200 (supposed ideal weight).

down to 275 (165 lost) and i will consider myself successful, however, as someone else was wondering about setting shorter term goals, i know that for me i can set progress marks for weights that will correspond to certain times in my life. for instance, when i get back down to 400, ill be where i was when i left college (40 pounds lost), and when im at 330 ill be at my working high school weight, 300 the lowest ive been since i became a pubescent young adult, and the then 275, well that will just be something interesting to see.

Lots to lose!

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone wants to join me in a new club (as of June 1 07) for folks like me who could benefit from losing 50 lbs or more. I want it to be structured so that you and I will be forced to stick to it! hehe.

So let's go for it!

Group members (including myself) will post each night how they did for the day. I'll post a 20-30 minute daily challenge so that you know you're active each day - be sure you note if you completed the challenge.

Weigh-ins on Tuesdays (and only Tuesdays you scale junkies haha)

I'm the only member now and I'll start off - join me if you'd like, but stick to it!

------------------------------

Friday June 1
Last Tuesday's weigh-in: 293
Total loss (1 week): 4 lbs

Rewarded myself for not cheating all week with a few onion rings. Still controlled my portions and did fine. My walk got rained out tonight. By the way guys, whole grains! They rock.

Here's your Saturday challenge: Take a 30-minute walk outside. Try to go a bit faster than you usually walk if you can.

See ya!

Count me in!!!

I saw your post and I'm joining ya! I'm going to do a good eating approach and I'm starting out at about 285 lbs.

Yay!

Hey guys! I will join you! I am so excited to lose weight! I am at 276lbs right now and would love to lose 100 lbs... but we will start small! Any tips or tricks anyone would like to share?

Saturday June 2

I'm so glad you guys joined! Pop in when you can and let everyone know how you're doing.

Despite graduation parties for family I ate perfect today. I'm so happy bout not giving in, and tempted to weigh myself... but not till Tuesday!

And I completed my challenge :jump: but it rained again so my walking got done indoors.

Sunday's challenge: Find a barbell you like (or something heavy) and work on those arms. Finally, something you can do in front of the TV!

I managed to lose 100lbs last year mainly through regular exercise [nothing too harsh - started walking then cycling and jogging when I was fitter].

I ate sensible meals and stuck to 2400-2600 calories [my starting weight was 322 and height is 6'3"].

I tried to eat as much fruit and veg as possible and no junk foods, except on occasion. I cut down my alcohol intake too.

Coach Crimson - I found that seeing myself after the weightloss was amazing I looked completely different, looking back at older photographs. It was also almost scary how much more confidence I gained - it's a great feeling when you reach the final goal you are aiming for.

Hope this info helped - good luck to everyone.

thanks for sharing. sharing your story lends to motivation for sure! :)

I'll join in!!!
I am in the middle of loosing my 100lbs. Ive lost 53 so far. I really need to loose about 120 but Im gonna just stick with getting back to 200 again. Im about 6ft tall so I don't want to look too skinny just be healthy again.

I have to lose about that much. I want to be between 160-180. That's 100 Lbs. ;)

Been at it since the begining of June. I can't wait till next summer. :)

Well, when I started, I said that I wanted to lose 102 lbs and get down to a goal weight of 250. After joining this forum and seeing all of the success stories, I realized that my goal of 200 lbs was not as far out of reach as I thought it was. I now have 130 lbs to lose.

I have 119 pounds to lose

I am currently 269 pounds and want to lose 119 to reach 150. I started at 275 and I have lost 6 pounds already. It sucks that I have to lose over 100 pounds but its reality lol. I seem so motivated this time and I know its going to happen so wish me luck everyone and good luck to everyone else.
