100 lbs in 26 weeks

When I was in my thirties I lost 70lb in 14 weeks so I know your goal is achievable, if not the most healthy approach. I used a calculator, got anal about calorie counting, and paid for every extra snuck calorie with the appropraite amount of exercise to counter balance. Sometimes I was rocking the house well into the night to pay for that slice of cheese I could not resist with dinner (or the beer after dinner). My basic diet was 1k fat free calorie per day spread out through the day in 200 calorie chunks and I allowed myself 200 sneak calories. Every week, like clockwork, I lost 5lb.

That being said, I later learned the risks I was taking with my driven approach. I later gained the weight back although for unrelated reasons. I am now trying to lose 2lb per week and finding it a far more difficult challenge because I have more things to consider and cannot let myself get so focussed on weight loss alone that I go psycho.

Good luck and may it all work out for you!

So you ate 400 calories per day?

Me? The plan I followed included 1000 calories per day spread out 200 calories each in planned snacks and meals plus I allowed myself an additional 200 calories to consume at my discretion. If I went over 1200 calories in a day I would 'pay' for it with additional exercise.

It is definately possible to lose 100 lbs in 26 weeks but it is impossible for it to be healthy since you'll have to do extreme exercising and eat very little.

This is not true! I lost 112lbs in 26 weeks and I rarely felt hungry because I was eating well. My" extreme" exercising consisted of walking an average of 5 nights a week (that's not that extreme). I now know I should have been eating a little more protein than I was, but other than that I would not change the way I did anything. Keep in mind I started at 358 lbs. I am much better off now than I was at the beginning. So I don't think it is at all "impossible" to do in a healthy manner.

That means you must have been eating very few calories...that is my point..the only way to lose so much weight in such a little time is to basically starve yourself or exercise several hours a day.

If someone is extremely overweight (say 500lbs) then yes, sometimes it is important to take extreme measures and eat very few calories in order to lose weight very quickly and reduce immediate health risks. Otherwise i think one should try to lose in a healthy way..losing 1-2lbs per week...losing quickly poses its own health risks, and also means that healthy habits are not likely being formed (who can maintain a 1200 calorie diet for their entire life?)...and that muscle is being lost in addition to fat.

Calories were low but I can tell you that I was no were near 1200 calaries a day and did not starve myself at all. As far as exercise, it was under an hour of walking per day.

Well, if you w ere 365lbs, eating 2000 calories per day would have been starving yourself.
