Hi Gang,I'm 44 years old A truck driver an have a bet going that I can lose 100 lbs in 26 weeks , Now, I lift weights an walk A little can anyone help on other ideas?

Just make sure you do cardio and you're eating enough calories and such. The fat will definitely start coming off!!

I would just be careful about losing so much weight in such a short period of time. Keep it healthy and you'll get there!!! Be good to your body and your body will be good to you! Just keep in mind that nothing is more important than your health...not even a bet.

I'm sure it's possible but that's averaging 4 lbs/week. That's not easy. 2 lbs/week is more healthy.

I'd say there would be absolutely NO cheating if you want to accomplish that and lots of exercise.

You're talking about burning an extra nearly 2,000 calories every single day for 6 months. I'm not sure you realize what you got yourself into. Even if it's possible, it's not recommended.

Oh i dunno, i did it in about that on a 1200-1500 calorie diet plus exercise (about 1-2 hours 5-6 days a week)

Wow thats alot in a little time but it can be done.Just
keep it healthy and exersice your tale off..Goodluck

You've got quite a goal there, but it can be done. Just focus on creating a healthy diet plan for LIFE and you'll truly be a winner. In addition to lifting weights and walking, you need to up your protein a bit and lower those calories to maximize weight loss.

I just got done renting a 'day in the life' type DVD from pro bodybuilder Jay Cutler. This guy does not play around with his diet or his training -- even on the off-season. Watching motivational DVDs like this may help you in your weight loss journey.

Best wishes with winning the bet and losing weight!

Im sorry but 4lbs a week is unhealthy no matter how you look at it. Assuming you're a larger individual (based on amount of weight you want to lose) you're gonna need many more calories than a smaller person. Goals are great, but they should reasonable.

If all you're gonna do is walk and lift weights, you're gonna be at a serious disadvantage. As a truck driver, you probably have many muscle imbalances and lack of flexibility from driving so much.

What are your current stats?

Yeah but that first week you start any diet you drop a ton. I droped about 10-15kg/20-30lb in 2 weeks.
The rest has been a steady 1-1.5kg/2-3lb or so a week to which everyone here whos done a challenge can attest too :)

So you're saying in two weeks you were able to burn off an extra 70,000 calories? That would be 5,000 kcal per day.

Sure any beginner will benefit from the first 90 days of a new exercise program, but thats just unhealthy. Im not saying it didnt happen for you, because you said it did. However being healthy isnt about weight loss, but about well, being healthy.

Newp, im saying at the beginning of any diet you drop a ton of weight very quickly - probably water weight more than anything.
Anyone whos done any weight loss programs can tell you this - its how most of those 'loose 30lb in 1 month' scam pills work

And i live a very healthy diet and exercise, there is nothing strange about the way ive lost weight.

I agree with wishes 1000%. I lost 112 pounds in 26 weeks. It was not easy and you need to stay focused but I did not do anything crazy to achieve this, I just started eating healthier and getting some exercise. I cut all soda, junk food and late night snacks out, watched portion size, drank lots of water, and started eating lots of fruits and veggies. I was not trying to lose it that fast it just happened that way. I bought a couple of nutritional books and visited a registered dietitian in an effort to learn and make sure I was doing it right. I think intentionally limiting yourself to 1 or 2 pounds a week is crazy. If you are eating well and exercising and happen to be losing faster than most others then keep up the good work and go for it.

Shotgun, having said all that I also want to stress that you should not try to win this bet at the expence of your health, please do it safely, try to learn about foods and nutrition. If you do lose 100 pounds I can almost guarantee that being 100 pounds lighter will be a much sweeter victory than the $200.

This post really intrigued me. I want to get down to 180lb (currently 252lb) by June 1st. I'm eating around 1000kcal per day and am exercising 60min per day (elliptical and recumbent bike). I'm buring approximately 2000-2500kcal per day. That's around 4.5lbs per week. I think we should start a 4+ lbs/week club.

Wimic,,Thats a very good idea a 4 lbs a week club sounds good to me! An your doing great ! just remember water , water , water !! Ha Ha !
