It better not be the end of the world. I have yet to experience so much. If Its the end of the world on the seventh. I'll be so ****ing pissed!

Right, The world will end tomorrow on the day that is supposed to be the busiest wedding day of all time... Tomorrow is being "considered" a lucky day, even casinos are offering special promotions for the day.
And why 7/7/07 why not 7/7/77? Or what about the supposedly evil 6/6/66,6/6/06 and so on? These are just arbitrary numbers, not actual places or things. They have no physical presence only an imaginary number attached to a cycle, that we predict.

I don't think the Aztec predicted it would be the end of the world. It's just the date of which their calendar ends, and people just assume that it meant the end of the world. I mean when you make stuff, you don't think it's going to last for thousands of years. Same thing happened with the Y2K bug, a lot of programmers used the 2 digits dates in the early 70s and 80s not thinking their programs would last for years.
In any case, many people have predicted the date of which the end of the world will occur. Some crazy, and some very highly educated. But in the end, none of the dates were correct.
This is a bit inaccurate. It is the Mayan calendar, not the Aztec one, where 2012 is a date of significance. Also, it is not the date when the calendar "ends". It is simply the date when the old cycle of +5000 years ends and the new one begins.
Neither calendar predicts the world will end on that date.
Are your grandparents still alive? If so, take a look at how they are spending the day. That will be the test of their belief. They may be the last of the Millerites!
Not the Aztecs silly, The Mayas. One of the smartest civilizations that ever lived. Persoanlly I think that there will be an asteroid or something of the like then, which they interpreted as the end of the world. They were masters at Astronomy (for their time with limited resources)...
But yeah, the world better not end, I have a wedding to go that day

Is basing a civilizations intelligence level around what they did or did not invent a way to determine anything? If it is, then we're an extremely ignorant civilization compared to in say 500 years.
