My wifes father passed away this afternoon

For those that have read the COL, you should know that my wife and I have been taking care of her father for the passed year with Hospice assistance.

He passed a way at our home this morning at 76 years old. I will be spending some time with family the next few days.

Hope all is well with you.

Best regards,

Chillen

Thank you, Gooch, Sig, and BSL.

He had Alzheimers, and some breathing complications. He took a sudden turn on Sunday (a week ago), and became bed ridden. He was a good Grandfather, Father, and husband; a 22 year retired vetern of the army. We didnt want him in a nursing home surrounded by strangers and decided to take him in surrounded by love and people that care about him.

Hospice has been a wonderful support service medically and emotionally. I dont know if each state has this service, but they did one hell of a job especially toward the end.

We are finishing up the service arrangements today which will be held on Wednesday.

Thank you for your thoughts.

take care of things. that puts you in the man role big time. to you I pray for strength and clarity. to you and your family, I pray for peace, harmony, and a spirit of unity all about.

Gods speed to you and yours.

Todd

Sorry to hear about your loss Chillen. I don't follow the COL closely, so I only found out about it now.

I know exactly what you are going through as my wife and I buried her mother in August. It was very tough but you, your wife, and your boys (actually young men) will pull through.

Thank you, CCR, Drex, GT2003, DEF, Marko, SP, FF, RWS, g8r80, and Jackie.

I appreciate all your posts and kind words.

It has been a difficult past few days, but we are healing and doing just fine.

Again, thank you for the comments.

Best wishes to all of you each and everyday,

Chillen

January 18th, 2008: Thoughts for the day

Ordinary people do ordinary things.
EXTRAORDINARY people do EXTRAORDINARY things!

Each day holds the spark that ignites the fire of future fulfillment.
Will you put that spark out or add the fuel which lights into brilliant flames?

GIRLS! Dont CHEAT YOURSELVES!

The Girl In The Glass

When you get what you want in the struggle of life
And the world makes you queen for a day...
Go to the mirror and take a look at yourself
And see what that girl has to say.

It isn't your mother, father or husband
Whose judgement on you must pass.
The person whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the girl staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum
And think you are a wonderful girl.
But the girl in the glass says you are a bum
If you can't look her straight in the eye.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on your back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the girl in the glass.

BEGIN AGAIN

One of the best things we can do in our lives is this:
Begin again.

Begin to see yourself as you were
When you were the happiest and strongest you've ever been.

Begin to remember what worked for you
(and what worked against you),
And try to capture the magic again.

Begin to remember how natural it was when you were a child --
To live a lifetime each day.

Begin to forget the baggage you have carried with you
For years:
The problems that don't matter anymore,
The tears that cried themselves away,
And the worries that are going to wash away
On the shore of tomorrow's new beginnings.

Tomorrow tells us it will be here every new day of our lives;
And if we will be wise,
We will turn away from the problems of the past
And give the future -- and ourselves -- a chance
To become the best of friends.

Sometimes all it takes is a wish in the heart to let yourself ..
Begin again.

I've learned that we cannot forget or throw away our past,
But we must not allow our past to control us either.
We must learn and grow from our past failures,
Disappointments, pains and experiences.
Reset our goals and priorities... and move forward.
Start TODAY, by Un-Ty-ing the knots that LIMIT you!

(Ty Howard)

=================================================

Set your standards high
You deserve the best.
Try for what you want
And never settle for less.
Believe in yourself
No matter what who choose.
Keep a winning attitude
And you can never loose.
Think about your destination
But don't worry if your stray
Because the most important thing
Is that you've learned along the way.
Take all that you've become
To be all that you can be.
Soar above the clouds
And let your dreams set you free."

Brotha and Sista's the road to success is not a path you find but a trail you blaze.

The warmest and deepest wishes to all of you this fine day.

May ALL of your hopes and dreams come true.

Best regards,
