How long did it take Daniel Craig to Buff up for Casion Royale? Anybody know?

Just wondered if anybody heard in an interview or anything how long it took Daniel Craig to "buff up" for his role in Casino Royale??

I only ask because he seems to be naturally quite slim when you look at his past movies, so he must of put on quite a bit of size. I'm sure he would have just dedicated 99% of his time to putting on the size and he obviously had professional help every step of the way.

But I was just wondering if anybody had read or seen an interview where he was asked this?

Do YOU think it was all natural? I know there are people out there bigger etc, but I am thinking more in terms of how much of a difference there was between his physique before he started training for the bond role, compared to how he looks in the movie.

If you look at his newer movies he does seem to have dropped a lot of the size and gone back to a size he feels more natural and easier to maintain.

A few months, but he had a lot of help

he gave up smoking and exercised 5 times a week. His workouts were only 45 minutes but were usually peripheral heart action, weight circuits, pullups and other bodyweight activities.

He also worked under the supervision of expert trainers, and expert dietitians who formulated his diet and oversaw his progression.

Absolutely certain of it. Why? Not many guys using steroids would have such high body fat. Craig looks to be at about 20% to me in that picture. It looks like the result of a good old fashioned calorie surplus and heavy lifting

Also, I wouldn't think too highly of his physique, get a photo of him as he comes out of the water and you'll see he obviously ignored leg work during his bulk

20% seems high, looks more like 14-16, but regardless, he looks to be in decent shape. Can't remember his legs though, that movie was about an hour and half too long for me. :D

Hmmm it would be nice to have constant supervision and a team of experts helping you along the way.

I don't have a picture of him before, but i'd guess he wasn't very muscular, just slim. I think that sort of progress would take the average trainee a lot longer to get to.

I'm not saying his physique is amazing or anything, just that theres a lot of people that wouldn't mind having that body, and he looks a lot bigger than before he got that role from looking at him in other movies etc.

EDIT: Hmmm just noticed his head looks quite small for his body in that picture lol.

I certainly wouldn't complain if I looked like that!

I would probably go for a little less body fat but I actually much prefer that kind of look to the ultra chiseled kind of look.

I love how peope say 'He looks natural'.. I know tons of people on the sauce that barely look like they lift, let alone take grams of hormones.

They take gear and still look like they don't even workout? Thats funny.

I actually hear the opposite a lot. If a celebrity looks buff everyone assumes they're using something

Let me rephrase, his results don't seem unreasonable to have been obtained through natural means.

I'm sure I would be very surprised to hear how many use steroids. I've felt guilty when cheating on a test at school, I'd feel like super guilty to have "cheated" to get results. Guess it depends on how you look at it...

I would actually like to find out how many people use steroids. At my gym, its actually a wellness centre so the majority of people don't use free weights and stack on the muscle but the people that do I see them popping creatine and all sorts of stuff after they are done. I think the # of people that use steroids would be surprising high.

Taking steroids is not a magic pill, the people who take gear work twice as hard and dedicate their life to taking their body to new levels.

Craig's trainer was Simon Waterson.

He has a book on Amazon...." Commando Workout " which is similar to the approach he took with Craig.

The British edition of GQ also did an article detailing the Craig / Waterson workout - if you can find it.

You think?

Maybe I carry fat better than most then but to me I think 20%. If you have muscle, the arms, traps, shoulders and pecs always look quite lean, the key is around the waist.

Either way, the guy got paid to get in great shape and had a lot of 1 on 1 training; there would be no reason to use gear to get like that

Maybe you're right, but yeah, regardless, it would be helpful if I had someone to cook all my ****, and spend all my time working out and resting.

don't agree, actors are known, generally, to want what they want badly and quick, a la christian bale on his diet for the machinist and similar in american psycho.. if someone knows exactly how long it took and what kind of help he had then fair enuff but as far as i'm concerned its impossible to know without those facts.. going on what i think people generally would do - he used steroids. Don't see why he should be given the benefit of the doubt, ripped or non-ripped!
