Stars & Fitness: Ryan Reynolds Gone Marathon Runner

His help to fight against Parkinson's Disease

Ryan Reynolds ran his first full marathon recently in the New York City Marathon, to raise money for Michael J. Fox's charity for Parkinson's disease. His plan to run the race stimulated from the idea of helping Parkinson's disease sufferers including fellow star and actor Michael J. Fox as well as his father, Jim Reynolds.

Reynolds decided to join the race after meeting Michael J. Fox over a year and a half ago, and then in September announcing that he would be joining the Michael J. Fox Team in the run, on behalf of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. His dad was his inspiration for joining, and since joining Team Fox he has raised over $80,000.00.

This 31 year old super star entered the race – runner number 14778 insisting that he was not a runner. However, Reynolds did remarkably well finishing the 26.2 mile race with a time of 3:50:22. Throughout the race he was cheered on by his recent wife Scarlett Johansson, and Michael J. Fox. Reynolds said that his wife had been giving him a lot of support since his decision to run in the race.

After running the race, Reynolds said, "I would sooner be prime minister of the moon than run another marathon." It takes a lot of motivation and reason for him to do anything involving running. He still believes that he is not a runner, even after spending the time to train for the event.

However, this Canadian is loved for all that he does, and he still looks good while doing it. The team here at fitness.com would like to say a job well done Ryan!
