A look at the biography of Patrick Chan


A favorite amongst Canadians, Patrick Chan is in the running for the 2010 Winter Olympics. As a professional figure skater; Chan has been skating in Canada since the age of 5. He was born and raised in the capital city of Ottawa Ontario, where he soon became a legend on the ice.


Patrick Chan has won many accomplished titles in the world of Figure Skating. From 2003-2005 he won 3 consecutive national titles in the pre-novice, novice, and junior levels. During his senior debut in 2006, Chan became the first Canadian male figure skater since 1984 to place in the top three at the World Figure Skating Championships.


Chan's later years as a figure skater have gained him even more status on the scoreboard. He won two grand prix events in 2008-2009: the 2008 Skate Canada International and the 2008 Trophy Eric Bombard. These accomplishments made him qualify for the Grand Prix final. This past year in 2009, Patrick Chan went on to defend his Championship title at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships.


Currently Chan is training hard for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympic Games. He hopes to please his fans by performing well for his own country in Vancouver, Canada in February.
