A look at George's life before the 2010 Winter Olympic Games
Although George Grey is a British immigrant, he stays true to his Canadian roots. That is why you can see him competing for the Canadian Olympic Cross Country Ski Team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Grey moved to Canada at the age of 2, and has grown up all his life surrounded by snowy white B.C. Mountains. Naturally he started skiing at a young age, and now skis as often as he eats, sleeps, and breathes.
This 30 year old athlete grew up in Rossland B.C., where the winters are snowy and cold, but the skiing is almost picturesque. His mother a British Immigrant, and his father a South African, Grey grew up in a duo parent household supporting his goal to becoming an Olympic athlete. At the age of ten Grey started competing in ski competitions throughout B.C. and at age 11 he even declared in an interview from a local television station that he wanted to compete in the Olympics one day.
Into his 9th year now of competing with Canada's National Cross Country Ski Team, this will also be Grey's second time representing Canada at the Winter Olympics. Other than his two Olympic challenges, Grey has competed in 94 World Cup events, and 4 World Championships. He is extremely ecstatic that he gets to compete this year not only in his own Country, but in his own province for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
