After a treacherous loss on Sunday to the American Men's Hockey Team, Team Canada competes against Russia today to make it into the finals. But, can the Canadian team pull through for their country and win the gold after the beating fans saw last Sunday?

The US hockey team has come out strong, young, and triumphant no doubt. The US team's coach came to the games with a new strategy: youthful players instead of past Olympic experience. It was a risk that they were willing to take, and so far has seemed to pay off. The team hasn't lost a game yet at the 2010 Olympic Games, and you can best bet that you will see them in the finals.

But the Canadian Hockey Team has much talent. All of the players are taken from the NHL's US hockey teams, excluding Calgary Flames Jarome Iginla, and Vancouver Canucks captain Roberto Luongo. There is no doubt that Canada produces some of the best hockey players in the world; including torch lighter Wayne Gretzky.

After Canada beat Germany yesterday with an 8-2 win, fans were cheering "we want Russia, we want Russia," but the reality of it is that Russia wants Canada too. Canada has not beaten the Russian Hockey Team since 1960, but apparently this year the two teams couldn't be a better match up. Both teams are bright, young, and talented, and the rivalry between the two teams couldn't make for a better game of hockey. Vancouver's own Roberto Luongo will be challenged not only by the Russians but by the pressures of playing well for his home town. This will be the first time outside the second round of Stanley Cup play-offs this admired goalie and captain can show off to his fans and live up to his talent.
