Olympics: Meet members of the Canadian Women’s 2010 Winter Olympic Aerial Team

A sneak peak at Canadian Olympic Freestyle Skiers: Veronika Bauer, Jackie Brown, and Deidra Dionne.


It's starting to be all the hype: the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and they are approaching fast. They are being held in Vancouver Canada this year, and the torch will be lit on February 12, 2010. So the team at Fitness.com decided to get a head start and give you an insider on a few of the athletes from the Canadian Olympic Freestyle Ski Team.


Veronica Bauer is a young professional Olympic athlete, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario Canada. She was born on October 17, 1979 and has always wanted to be an Olympic Champion since the age of 6. Her sport of choice is freestyle skiing, and with a team of experts and a tremendous amount of support, she aspires to gain another championship at the 2010 Canadian Winter Olympics.


Throughout her career as a freestyle skier, Veronika has won a number of championships and medals. She has won 5 golds, 5 silvers, and 9 bronzes at various freestyle skiing championships throughout the world. As for the Olympics, she is a two time Olympic champion placing 10th at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, and 12th at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. She was also the Silver Medalist in 2003 for the World Championships.
Needless to say her skiing record is impeccable.


Jackie Brown is a freestyle skier specializing in Moguls. She was born and raised in Cambridge Ontario, since February 12, 1986. As a young athlete she started on the Cambridge freestyle ski team which eventually led her to training with the Olympic Freestyle Ski Team. Brown says that she has had a lot of support along the way especially from her home town – even posting her face on billboards.


Although Jackie's career has barely started she still has a number of championships to be proud of. She has managed to keep a record of 3 career World Cup Moguls top ten finishes, her best World Cup result was 4th, she placed sixth in 2006 at the World Junior Championships, and she placed 5th in moguls at the 2009 Canadian Championships.


Deidra Dionne is a freestyle skier born and raised in Red Deer Alberta. She finished her schooling at the National Sport School in Calgary so that she could pursue her Olympic dream.


Deidra has been a part of the Canadian Olympic Freestyle Skiing Team for 10 years. She was first spotted in 1999 after she won World Cup medals after her first two starts, and after becoming Freestyle Rookie of the Year, as well as Alberta's Junior Athlete of the year in 1999. Deidra already 1 Olympic Medal her belt; in 2002 she won the bronze at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. She has also won two bronze medals for World Championship titles.
