My struggle with weight started once i was pregnant with my 1st child that is seven years ago by then i was 90kg then i really wanted to lose the excess baby fat but people would advice me to stop thinking about my weight n focus on my baby. Two year later became pregnant again with my second baby and my weigh shoot to 120kg then i tried all sort of diet i managed to lose till 98kg then i become pregnant again with my 3rd baby who is 15months old my weight then was 130 i managed to shade till 108.

When i joined this forum i was 117 then i tried to motivate myself n managed to shade almost 10kg but luck was not on my side as am back to 116. This is so demoralizing i cant stand this weight anymore i really nees to get back to my weight which was 80kg before 1st got pregnant. @FoodC kindly if you have a way to help i would really appreciate.

I'm really sorry to hear how demoralized you're feeling right now. I won't butt in, since you're asking FoodC for advice (and since I haven't got that "new mum" experience to draw on) but I'm glad you're here in the forum again - welcome back!

Hey Zue, being 14 kg down from your peak weight is an accomplishment you should feel good about. Trying to do more is admirable, I wish you luck with it!

Thanks alot. Wish to do more but i dont know how but just hope someone somehwere will help me. I do appreciate ur compliment as it makes me want to do more @alligatorob

@Zuerey I am so proud of you that you decided to share your problem here. Now I know why you've lost your motivation. I do believe it is really hard for you.
Also, random diets can make you feel lost because you are totally alone with that, and what's more your metabolism doesn't know what is going on. It is an easy way to suffer from diabetes or another disease.

Anyway, we shouldn't watch backward. Let's plan the future and be proud of ourselves ;)

Can you please make a 3 days 'diary' of what you eat? I mean there should be:
  • totally everything that you eat, drink or snack (even small things)
  • the size of portions (I mean 1 apple; 2 sandwiches; 1/2 glass of tea with 1 tablespoon of sugar; etc.)
  • exact hour when you've eaten
  • information about your waking up and going seep hours
You can make it in the document and later just attach it in reply :)

Don't rush.
Just focus on that and don't change anything with your diet for now. I want to see what you eat. :)

Hi, Zuerey & welcome to the forum. I gained a lot of weight with each child I had too & struggled to get it off. I think that I focussed on my kids & getting through each day & lost focus on myself altogether. When my kids were little I just picked at things almost all the time as I was preparing their food & ate whatever was easiest. Most people in the forum follow different "diets" and ways of eating. You need a plan that will suit you & will be sustainable long-term. We would all like to see what you eat as that is the only way anyone can make suggestions for improvements. You will find that the majority of people in here are helpful & supportive.

Another additional piece of information is - Are you breastfeeding ? this will have an impact on any diet advice given. Do you know your current bodyfat % ? if not how tall are you ?

Do you have any injuries or health conditions ? this also impacts the advice you may be given.

As much as you would like it to be otherwise, fat loss is not as simple as it first appears.

Zuerey, I will do some calculations and get back to you, it is a busy week for me this week at Uni

Attached kindly find my 3days eating diary as requested. Thanks once again

Hey Zue,

Your diet looks interesting. And your calorie count is good, on the low side for sure. Others can comment more intelligently on the nutrition side.

Lots of bananas, and some things I've never heard of. I looked up mandazi and gari (or is it garri). Interesting African foods, are you in or from Africa? Pretty exotic sounding to me.

Keep up the good work!

@Zuerey I appreciate that you finished your eating diary :)

Before I will give you some directions please tell me also:
  1. What time do you wake up and what time do you go to sleep
  2. What time do you eat each meal? (there is no information about time)
  3. Do you exercise something? If yes tell me about that.
  4. I know you breastfeeding (how many times a day and night?)
  5. Do you work?
  6. Tell me about your health
  7. Do you take any supplements or medicine?
  8. How much do you drink water during the day?
  9. What is your height?
  10. How old are you?

That's cool and exotic. I have always wanted to see Africa, I know its a big place, probably sounds like someone saying to me I'd like to see North America. But having never been my knowledge is limited.

Its good to have you here, best of luck with the diet. I am looking forward to reading about your progress.

Ok @Zuerey I have everything that I need to say something about your diet.

Your basic metabolism is 1994 kcal - Those are calories to just keep you alive (breathing, the work of the circulatory system and all other processes occurring in your body when you are completely at rest). Your diet now is about 1000 kcal and even less what makes your metabolism work super slow. What is more- when your body doesn't have enough nutrients it will take it from liver and bones which causes other problems in the future as for example osteoporosis.
Ok so let's add breastfeeding and your daily activity as your work, walks etc.

1994 kcal+ breastfeeding about 500 kcal + your daily activity about 530 kcal = 3024 kcal those are calories that you need right now every day to keep your body weight.

But we need to lose weight, so we need to subtract calories to make you lose weight. 3024 kcal - 500 kcal it is 2524 kcal

@Zuerey so we have calories that you need to eat every day.
And now Let’s talk about your daily habits.

In my opinion you should start to eat basic, balanced diet to just calm down your metabolism from various diets and make it work well. If you will do this and you will have good results then you can try another diet, but in my opinion the best way is just to be patient and don’t change diets because it makes everything confused and brings yoyo effect.

You should eat more than 3 meals to calm your metabolism and go to the right path.
Please try to eat your breakfast 30-50 min after wake up.
So:
  • first meal: 6:30 am
  • second meal: 10:30 am
  • third meal: 2:30 pm
  • fourth meal: 6:30 pm
  • fifth meal (small snack): 9:30 pm It is because you still breastfeed so you need more energy to wake up and feed your child.

Don’t drink:
  • while you eat your meal
  • 30 min before your meal
  • 40 min after your meal
after this time you can start to drink water or tea without sugar, but remember to drink always small dossages I mean not a whole cup of water in 3 seconds.

change cow milk for vegetable milk (but make sure it is without sugar),
eat fruits only to your second meal,

You should avoid any sweets, samosas, mandazi, fast-food, any sweet drinks (Coca-Cola, Sprite, any fruit juices, etc.), cheap cheeses, alcohol, tea or coffee with sugar or milk,

Please tell me if you have any possibility to eat fermented food? As fermented soya or fermented cucumbers? It would be great to eat it every day at least 1 time a day and drink this fermented water. It will help your intestines to work better.
