I am truly ashamed that I know the answer to this question.
But rather than type... I give you... - there's actually some cool art at that site...

Smurfette was made in the wizard Gargamel's laboratory. She was created by a magical potion. Her list of ingredients include: "Sugar and spice but nothing nice...A dram of crocodile tears...A peck of bird brain...The tip of an adder's tongue...Half a pack of lies, white, of course...The slyness of a cat...The vanity of a peacock...The chatter of a magpie...The guile of a vixen and the disposition of a shrew...And of course the hardest stone for her heart...."

Papa Smurf is the Smurf who turned everything around for Smurfette. After a successful operation of "plastic smurfery", Papa Smurf transformed the ugly (and unhappy) brunette Smurfette into the blond bombshell she is today.

The Smurfs were very pleased with the new and improved Smurfette. The truth was eventually revealed to Papa Smurf and the others that Gargamel created the first incarnation of Smurfette, but her improved disposition and appearance helped the Smurfs accept Smurfette as one of their own.

A few years back - i was on an extended business trip to london and i got so sick of london i hopped a train to brussels belgium... there i spent hours wandering around comic strip museum in brussels (the home to the smurfs) was a very smurfy place.. and i learned way more about smurfs than i ever wanted to know :D

I must've missed the episode that all of that was revealed....probably was in the kitchen preparing a bowl of Life cereal and missed it! :D I loved those commercials!

Wow, this was a fun list to read! I'll admit I was only 6 years old by the time the 80's ended, but I can still relate to over half of those! Rainbow Brite, oh yeah...and Popples! My sister and I each had one. I'd forgotten about those things.

And though I'm sure I didn't learn it til years later, yes I still have "Shot Through the Heart" going in my head. :D

LOL! Remember those HUGE metalic gel filled stickers that were worth about 4 or 5 garbage pail stickers in a good trade off?????? LMBO!

Oh....and I definitely remember trying to get the bottoms of my pants rolled VERY tightly. I redid it over and over until it was just right...and would have been mortified to leave the house without them rolled tightly. I am suprised my feet ever got any blood circulated to them! LOL!!!

Oh my goodness...I have to mention this too....I saw a girl wearing those long tight shorts under a skirt at the mall just the other day. I did a double take then about choked trying not to laugh. Definitely brought back memories seeing that! LOL!

it's truly frightening to see some fashions making a comeback... Gauchos? please children.. they were bad in the 80s why ressurect them... what's next the oversized glasses and big hair? :D Neon reebocks? :D

I was born in 1980. A lot of the 80's styles were still popular in the early 90's when I was a pre-teen so I remember everything. Man, I was super skinny back then so I loved to wear the stirrup pants and the biking shorts.

I actually remember going to the skating rink (with no roller blades) wearing a black flair skirt with a pair of spandex biking shorts with a lace fringe and an oversized yellow cable-knit sweater. Man, I thought I was the hottest thing ever! And yes, I am still singing "Shot Through The Heart".

What a HOOT!

I was born in 1975, graduated High School in 93. What a great stroll down memory lane. I so was singing "and your to blame...you give loooove a bad name" at the end of the list. I had the big bangs, permed hair. The tight rolled jeans, biker shorts... HAHA. Hhehe, dont worry be happy, its hammer time..... AAHhhh I know you are but what am I.... I was so cool in school... I miss those jelly shoes.

LMAO... I needed that today :D
