I'm a huge fan of yoga and am finding it to be a powerful tool in the battle of the bulge when you add in weight training.

Should you have good balance for doing yoga? I've never really tried it, but it seems very challenging.

Unfortunately my balance is terrible. I can hardly ride a bike :(
 
When you're doing yoga or any other physical activity, you just have to practice within your current limits. Yoga can be a great way to improve your balance, but to be safe, you have to start with the basics and avoid the temptation to do what others in the class might be doing - they may have been practicing for a very long time! The instructor should give different levels of difficulty or adaptations for those that are beginners, have poor flexibility, or poor balance. Don't let "bad" balance stop you from doing things, just start slow!

Yoga, as we all know has tremendous physical and mental benefits. Start with the basics and would slowly experience an improvement on your balance.

Yoga is good for weight loss because you burn more calories compared to other types of yoga or in order to loose weight you have to either eat less or burn more calories.
