Yet More HIIT Help

I know you're probably all sick of questions about HIIT routines by now, but please bear with me for one more :D

I did my first HIIT run today in the gym (just got home in fact). I did a 3 minute warm up jog at 9km/h (5.6mph), followed by a 30sec run at 15.5km/h (9.7mph), then a 1min jog at 6km/h (3.75mph), then back to the sprint, rinse and repeat. Being it was my first time, and I'm not particularly fit, this went on for 15 minutes (minus the 3 min warm up, that's 9 minutes of the 1.5min cycle, so 6 cycles), then a 2min warm down at 6km/h.

So my question is, is that a decent routine?
Should I keep that up and extend it for a few more cycles over the next few weeks?
Or am I going too slow during my sprint?
Should my sprint cycles be a full minute also?
Should my jogging be faster?

I'm having what must be a bit of a mental issue with it - although it was a great workout, and I felt pooped when I had finished, I just didnt feel like I was doing a real workout, with it being so short. For that reason I instantly hopped on the rowing machine and did 2 minutes, but my calves were killing me and I couldnt continue!

Thanks for your feedback!

The time plan on the link that was just posted would be very hard to do on a treadmill in the gym.

The idea is of HITT is to get the heart going as fast as is safely possible then let it rest and repeat. You may not be able to get your heart rate up enough in that time. I always do 1min sprints and 2 min walks. within 1 min of sprinting My heart rate rises to 190bpm.

You should invest in a heart rate moniter as its much safer to use one so you know what ur body is doing.
