Would this Qualify as an HIIT workout?

When I use the elliptical I set it on about a 45 degree inclide and use a resistance setting that is medium-high (I use #10 but I know that means different things on different machines).

Anyway, I start with a five minute warm-up at ~165 steps per minute, speed-up to ~200 steps per minute for one minute, then to 250-270 steps per minute for one minute (best described as haulin' balls).

I repeat this routine every five minutes (3 minutes, 1 minute and 1 minute) I never get much below 160 spm during my entire work out. The best I can describe this for those that so not use the elliptical is as that I am going much faster than most of the people around me when I am at 165 spm. I burn about 235 calories in 15 minutes (according to the elliptical which does takes age and weight).

I had never heard of HIIT before I started this routine and was wondering if it would qualitfy since I have read of several different methods of HIIT.

TIA

well hiit mainly has do you with your own limits, not just numbers.. 90% intensity then 40% intensity back and forth

its also best done at a 1 to 1 ration (1:1) like 1 minute jogging, then 1 minute sprinting. but dont forget the five minute warm up and five minute cool down.

it will surely help me a lot. Cheers!!!Thank you for the information,
