...combine some elements of a low-carb diet with a low-calorie?

I am currently 6'4, 290, with a goal to hit 250. I've been starting to eat healthy, and exercise everyday (swift walking for 30 minutes) and eating about 3180 calories (I hope that's a the correct amount to consume for weightloss). I've been eating pretty much all home cooked healthy meals now, but I'm wondering if combining elements of a low-carb diet would be helpful.

I'm thinking of cutting out like breads, pastas, and some of the less-healthier carb-full foods -- or would this be a bad idea to combine both low-carb and low-cal? Or would it be something I could do, but it wouldn't be much help?

Thanks!

The only way a low carb diet works is if you have also cut the calories. As far as weight gain or loss is concerned , it doesn't matter where the calories come from.

If you find you are not losing weight, I don't think it would hurt to cut back a few hundred more calories.
