Sport Would a diet consisting of Meal replacement shakes be ok?

If I were to consume nothing but 1800 calories worth of MET-Rx meal replacement shakes every day, would that be better or worse than what the average American consumes on a daily basis?
I'm talking about the product featured here:


I'm a college student with neither the time nor the equipment to cook meals, and I can't really buy groceries, either. I need something healthy that's easy to obtain and easy to prepare. This seems perfect to me. Am I right?

As for the stuff, there's no mention of fiber, other minerals or vitamins.

My goal is to stay alive, in addition to maintaining muscle while I lose fat. The average American is able to stay alive. If this diet is better than what the average American eats, I too will be able to stay alive.

Obviously they aren't going to name every single nutritional value on the product description.

The average American is obese and has poor nutritional habits that cause health problems, maybe not today, but possibly later. You should have higher goals.

If you do your research and you feel this will satisfy all your nutritional needs, go for it. I suspect (strongly) that it won't.

The average American doesn't exercise much, and the average American eats larger portions than they're supposed to.
My options are limited. I don't have the equipment or time to cook/prepare food. No frying pan, oven, microwave, etc. I've been looking at the stuff here, but so much of it includes cooked food. That puts me at a disadvantage, doesn't it? My options are limited. And with those limitations, I doubt I'll be able to find a good enough diet on my own. I need someone who actually knows about nutrition to tell me what I should be eating.

You should get your nutrients from real food whenever possible. A replacement 'shake' every once in a while is fine or maybe even as one of your 5-6 meals of the day, but to make them your only source on caloric intake would be a bad idea.
 
Is 2x cereal, oatmeal and eggs daily good for my diet. I am currently 200 pounds, 5/8 in height,
doing 3k jogging every morning. Thank you
 
Read all the stickies. Eating WHOLE unprocessed foods (lean meats, fruit, veggies, whole grains) along with a daily multivitamin gets you 'proper nutrition'.

MetRx shakes are OK from time to time. But they lack enzymes and other goodies you ONLY find in whole foods.

I once did too many MRP shakes in a short time frame. My stomach was in a constant knot and I spent too much time on the toilet instead of in the gym!
