I went from 246-160lbs and dieted the whole time. Since then, I am more focused on maintaining my weight. I'm terrified of gaining weight. I looked at some of the daily calorie requirements for staying at the same weight while doing my daily exercise. Some of the calculators say that I can eat about 2800 calories a day without gaining weight. I don't see how I could bring myself to eating that much! I have been focused on a 2000 calorie diet. What do you guys think? I eat 5-6 small meals a day and I feel healthy.

You should eat 2800 calories for a few weeks and see how that goes. It'll probably work out pretty well for you. It's not like you're going to put all the weight back on anyways. :)

I'm also getting close to my final goal weight, and have been around 2000 calories. I've slowly increased my calorie intake so I'm approaching my final weight very, very slowly.

You're right, 2800 calories seems like quite a bit. I think what I'll probably do pretty soon is go up to 2400 calories or so.

One thing we have to watch out for is the accuracy of the calorie count. It's well known that most people underestimate what they are eating.
