Hey everyone, I know I might be lacking some information here but if you can help me out, please do.
I am a 39 yr old male, 5-11 and currently 207 pounds. I recently lost some weight and while I was trying to be healthier, I didn't expect weight loss so soon so I wanted to know if this is part of the process or if maybe I could have an issue to seek help with.
I will be honest, I don't always eat well. In fact, I have probably eaten somewhat poorly most of my life and just gotten by with a high metabolism and moderate to high level of activity. However as I got older, it got harder to keep the pounds off as I am sure we are all aware.
In Nov/Dec this year my activity was at an all time low and bad food intake was high. I was about 220 pounds at Christmas time. My appetite was a mess due to perhaps over usage of marijuana (prescription for sleep) and my break schedule at work with lunch being at 2pm so I was either eating too much or not enough. After Christmas, I decided to make some changes. I cut way back on the marijuana use to .5 grams per day instead of the heft amount I was using before which cut out a lot of pointless and random food consumption (aka the munchies), I cut out all fast food apart from pizza and the odd breakfast sandwich. I replaced all of my breakfasts with a smoothie. In the smoothies I put a banana, frozen berries, almond milk, regular milk and a scoop of protein powder. I have a 600 calorie lunch and then dinner at about 6-7pm that I gather is about 1500 calories and more balanced and healthy foods than before but I still order pizza and I still have a vice with Coca-cola which I normally have 1-2 cans a day (also cutting back).
My activity level was very low for about two weeks as I was off work for the holidays. While at work, I am on my feet almost all day moving. I am not often lifting much or doing anything too strenuous but I am always moving, walking and so on. My aim is to get back into jiujitsu in the new year and take training more seriously starting with my diet and weight.
All that said, I am now 207 pounds from 220-222 pounds during the holidays and I was even 209 pounds last night. Does this seem like a lot of weight to lose or flucuate for someone in my situation in this time frame?? I am always worried about cancer because it runs in my family so when I saw the weight falling off, I got very alarmed. Little help?
